The 300k could also be misleading. It could well include a significant number of students and other migrant workers who pass through the area for days (salesmen?) to years (students) at a time and fancy watching a game of football. Certainly in my student days I attended any number of matches that had nothing to do with Stoke, but in those days they wouldn't have harvested my email when selling a ticket.

I think more than most could think. I meet new supporters often here in the States and in Mexico now when previously it would be remarkable if they even knew of Stoke. I can imagine it increases each season world-wide and in the UK/Europe.

Hard to tell the exact number of total fans. I have family who don't watch any football, but if you asked them they'd say Stoke. Also do you count the school kids who are given stoke shirts in places like africa?
personally we probably have 10,000 hardcore, 12,000 regulars and about 10-15,000 part timers/can't go regularly (who still go games)
