It means there'd be a roaring lion's face filling the screen before every match.
More Hollywood passes?
It's a worry though, it's already commercialised so much it's an embarrassment.

In effect the Murdoch family control both companies already. I imagine it will have little or no practical effect.

I imagine the merger will result in more money for 'Sky' to compete with the likes of BT for the Uefa rights. It must have hurt they lost out on all European club football.
That in turn will see more money being shipped into the game and not getting through to grassroots.
Sky's film channels and selections will probably increase in number too.

Wonder if its more about Fox competing with NBC by getting SKY coverage into the US?

It means more Die Hard on Sky. Surely that can only be a good thing? It will mean increased subs - someone has to pay for it and it's usually not the fuckers making the deal.

If he introduced sharks with frickin lazer beams to stop feigning injury he could rule fifa for me let alone the tv rights 😉

Well I always wondered why SKY never tried it -- Our coverage in Canada is pretty half-assed eventhough we get ALL the games, SKY is just way better at it obviously. Up until the NBC I can imagine coverage was pretty wank in the USA. We had Setanta here for longest time, which I liked alot until Pat Dolan said Rory's throws were FOUL THROWS! But now its split between TSN and Sportsnet respectively, and it's kinda wank, but whatever. You guys have probably gotten our streams in the past. Be neat to see SKY over here -- I would imagine the CRTC would block them in Canada though

Coverage under FOX was very good and under NBC it has been excellent. All games are shown live if you have enough screens or you can record them and watch later. This seriously interferes with my golf game! So I am sure FOX would provide an excellent product. I just don't like the thought of my hard earned money going to a nasty greedy pig like Murdoch. Mind you once the new administration takes over in Washington I'll be swimming in extra cash - I don't think.
EDIT: Almost forgot: Robbie Earl is the main pundit in the studio and he's very good. In fact everyone in the studio knows what they're talking about (except Rebecca Lowe, who's very annoying and mostly there for her perceived decorative value).

Dr Mr......... In order to improve the quality of our output in an increasingly competitive market, it has been necessary to review the pricing of certain Sky services. As a result, from 1st February 2017, your monthly Sky subscription will increase to ONE BILLION DOLLARS. Kind regards, Sky Subscriptions Team

The Premier League sell rights by territory. Having the same person/company own Fox and Sky 100% won't make any difference whatsoever.

I'm pretty sure that company doesn't exist anymore, I remember watching a documentary about that lion and poked it until they got the roar they wanted....I am drunk so prolly misread the whole thing, also winding myself up arguing with a bunch of idiotic ICP fans that can't get their facts straight.

It means that I will still not subscribe to Sky.
For those who do, it means more right wing propaganda promoting intolerance and division.
