The Hoddle & Waddle pop singing duo was not one of the better ideas to emerge from the 1980s. Should have stuck to the day job, guys.

i loved Hoddle when i was growing up. i don't give a shit what they're like personality wise to be honest. they're not paid to be nice people, they're not paid to have a great personality, one person's c**t is another person's best friend as we all judge people differently. bit of a non-story to say the least. i dare say you could find people that have met Pele, Maradonna, Puskas, probably even Sir Stan who didn't like them too...who cares if they do the job that they're paid to do well? Excellently put. I have been fortunate in my life to see some truly great footballers, Hudson, Best, Greenhoff, Charlton, Law and many more. Hoddle was one of those, anyone who was at Stoke the day Spurs came and took us apart with him running the show will know what I mean. That was Hoddle's debut. Throughout the game Hudson was telling him he had a great future and congratulating him when he did something well.

I don't get that he's just being honest isn't he? Yeah but there are ways of being honest and then there's being outright rude, disrespectful and crude. He might think he's a c**t, but saying it in a public arena is a slightly different matter. I suppose it depends on the context. Anyway I've never liked Sherringham much either. Lovely player but always thought he was a bigheaded, full of himself c*.. erm, I mean bloke. Would the same logic not render you a cunt for suggesting that Sheringham is a cunt for voicing his opinion that Hoddle is a cunt? Hang on.. does this mean my inference that you might have rendered yourself a cunt because of your suggestion that Sheringham is cunt for voicing his opinion that Hoddle is a cunt actually make me a cunt?! Mindfuck

My memory of Hoddle was that he was an excellent club player but never cut it playing for England - a bit like John Barnes. I always felt he needed other players on the same wavelength, who would make the runs and believe the ball would arrive, like an American quarterback/wide receiver. At international level the other players didn't have the rapport. I always felt that Greenwood and Robson missed a trick by not picking him and Crooks together.

I met sir Stan a few times, he used to come into our box when we had it at the Vic, he was a very very nice bloke, and I would find it very hard to believe that anyone could have a bad word to say about him
Being nice costs nothing

Grew up in Harlow. Lived a few doors away from Glenn for a while, when he was playing at Spurs. His presence in the neighbourhood inspired me to forge his autograph and sell it at school, for which I am grateful. My best mates dad taught him at school. When Glenn's fiirst book was published he was astonished, not that Glenn had written a book at such a tender age, but that he had learnt to write.
