Today's Sentinel story about Sweeney the teenage CB we signed from AFC Wimbledon, suggests we have a new defensive coach - "France Sinclair." Anyone heard of him and is that really his name or is it a Sentinel typo? Warning - Sentinel link!Does anyone know when we signed him? Does our recent improved defensive form result from his input?

Is it the old Chelsea player frank? Could be - but Wiki doesn't show him as having joined us.

Bayernoatcake will know - he knows stuff like that. Of course he won't tell us unless at least 100 posters agree with him that Indi is crap at heading and Allen is ruining our creative options! ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/KYqg3pYeaerc5lD_P7BR.gif)

I guess we needed someone after Marc Wilson left as he seemed to think he was in charge of that

Frank Sinclair is helping with the U21s! Not a new defensive coach! His non league record as a manger is questionable and he took exception to me pointing this out on Twitter!

Our move up the table is definitely due in large measure to our improvement on the defensive side of the ball. We let in 14 goals in the first 5 game (almost 3/game) and then only 5 in the next 9 (just over 0.5/game). Certainly we played easier opposition, but two major factors were the additions of BMI and Lee Grant, who are not only technically very sound but also very experienced and calmed everything down at the back. These factors plus the addition of a defensive coach suggests management recognized the problem and did something about. Excellent.

I also believe he basically blocks anyone that doesn't agree with him on twitter. He also fell out with AFC Telford fans big time over something of nothing

Mmmm - sounds like Stokies don't universally like him! Perhaps that is why he insisted that the Sentinel spelled his name "France" Sinclair in their story! ![(rofl)](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/wMWjB17JNiCK5pUPtfmL.gif)

He's on the bench at the U23 games. He was there for the Sheffield game. I assume it's the same man.

Frank Sinclair as a defensive coach, is a bit like receiving a cake from a kid with visible eczema.

For sure NOT playing Man City and Spurs in the most recent 9 games helped. I think we will only really see the level of the recent improvement (if indeed there is one) post Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool away this month. If we can survive those 3 matches without copping a real belting or two we can say the improvement is real.

Did we have a defensive coach early doors? The last few weeks have seen a big reduction in goals conceded.
All we need next is to perform to decent standard for the duration of a whole game

Things could have gone tits up in the games against weaker teams, which tends to happen with Stoke. But it didn't.
