I'll offer these thoughts 1) I couldnt give a shit as to what happens to Leicester City or their manager 2) I could give a shit about us taking three points off them at their place sometime very soon 3 And those who would happily trade premiership status for winning something - are delusional and cannot think a relatively simple thought process through, to a logical conclusion e.g every season we now stay in the premier league -even whilst winning nothing in terms of cups or the league itself ONE repeat O-N-E hundred million pounds ££££££££ is added to our coffers to allow us to improve whilst the wannabees who, want to be in our shoes - get nothing Im talking Leeds - Sheffield - Newcastle - far bigger clubs than us who, cant get past us whilst this continues. Meanwhile, we continue to compete in arguably the best league in the world ( 38 games dontchaknow) - have a growing worldwide profile (not just six little towns) and, get to play and beat all those big clubs twice in a season and even beat them convincingly on occasion i.e. Stoke City 6- LIVERPOOL ONE - stuff dreams are made of ! and yet some numpties on here would fore sake all that, just to win one thing BONKERS !And, whose to say in time - we ourselves actually become a big enough club to win stuff without worrying about relegation the following season ? So long may this 'winning nothing but building incrementally' continue --as far as I am concerned !!!!!!! I would swap premier league for one season of winning the FA Cup, never mind the league title. 50/60/70yrs i could end up watching stoke (35 so far) and have 2 autoglass trophies to show for it and numerous 8th/9th...possibly 7th placed finishes. Ace. But to never see my side win a trophy is a depressing thought. Give me that FA cup final win every day of the week

Just listened to Ranieri's interview. Christ, if that was Hughes I'd go and put my head in the blender. I'd be really worried if I were a Leicester fan. The bloke has lost it. In other news, Dyche's reaction is hilarious. "We don't know how to be favourites". You or the players, Sean? Tony pulis mkII!

To put it simply they have been found out. Teams know how to play against them now and, because they have lost a few, their heads have gone down. That, the fact they let Kante go and the fact that a big part of their success came down to a freak occurrence where half their team had the season of their lives simultaeneously (Drinkwater, Mahrez, Vardy, Morgan etc.) At the rate they are going, they ARE going down, unless Ranieri can pull something out of the hat pretty quickly. Not his "Dilly Dong" I hope^

Fully behind Hughes getting Huth out of the door, it was embarrassing watching him trying to pass the ball out of the defence, Morgan though if he's a footballer we all are, Rannery (sp) is a lovely bloke but he's an idiot to himself with persisting with that pairing at the back. These are the same crap players who won the league last year in a season in which they had a controversial and important refereeing decision in their favour in almost every game they played

We might do that - but there is a greater chance that we would not. Three clubs get relegated each year - rarely does more than one of the three get promoted the following year. And if/when the parachute payments run out, we would not be in the top 8 of Championship clubs in terms of income. We'd have very cheap tickets and modest crowds compared to many of the Championship clubs.

But once down, far from easy to get back up in my opinion. To me, the priority should always be to keep Premiership status. By all means have a go at a good cup run, but I have to say, I was probably one of the few who didn't see our early cup exits as the end of the world. At least now we could be focussed on ensuring PL status with no distractions. In the real world, there is rarely an opportunity for such black and white decisions. So, you might have got yourself a place in the FA Cup final, but be at serious risk of relegation at the same time. For me, decisions would be taken based on preserving PL status at all costs. You can always have another crack at the FA or league cup next season. Doesn't seem a popular view on here but each to there own.

That's sort of presuming that the cup run got or at least played a massive part in getting Wigan relegated. When in reality they were lucky to be a Premier League club at the time they won it and it was coming. I think Leicester is similar. Their team on paper is pretty crap, it's just reverted to being pretty crap.

Just goes to show what a massive massive fluke it was. Arsenal, Man Utd, Chelsea, Citeh should be ashamed.
I think it's happened once before that a team winning the league goes down, Man City I think in the 30's(?) It just doesn't happen and it shows what an absolute shocker the owners, Ranieri and the players have had. Like I said, they're a disgrace to the league.

Just noticed this fact. Man City get relegated with a positive goal difference of 3!!!. That takes some doing and they scored 80 goals in 36 games, it appears to have been a real freak season. They must have lost a lot of games by the odd goal and when they won they hammered the opposition. You expect a team being relegated to have a massively negative goal difference.

I think there is nothing worse a morale sapping defeat in a cup match to take in to your next league game. It's not like we play a lot anyway, only a 38 game season in the Prem plus a miserable 3 cup games for us this season so that equates to 41 matches in total with a squad of 25 players, I doubt there is another team in the country who has played so few matches?

think there problem has been 4 things
1 they sold some of there key players and the ones they brought in are not doing the job and no heart add this to the fact vardi seems to have lost his goal scoring ability
2 the laws were changed on defending to stop the likes of leister and us from doing well if you think back to early season we were ofter penolised sometimes unfairly around the box we adapted they haven't huth (all though a cult figure for us ) did like the off the ball tugging and shirt pulling to get an advantage)
3 they have had Europe when we had Europe we found it hard especially when the fa put our sat games away from home
4 don't forget 2 seasons ago leister only just escaped relegation with a run of good results against the big boys this carried on last year with a lot of confidence then the bubble burst this year for reasons outlined in point 1 and 2

If leicester go down and we finish 9th as usual. Would you still have been happy to swap places with them of the past two seasons ? yes! teams come up and go down , come back up, go back down etc. all the time. There's absolutely nothing whatsoever to say that if we went down we'd never, ever come back up. The point of playing in any division is to at least attempt to win that league (even if you have no realistic chance, it's still what you're there for), and that's an extremely rare occurrence for ANY team in ANY league...especially the Prem given the dominance of the usual suspects since it's inception. If people would rather just say "Nah, 9th every year will do me" then seriously, what is the bloody point of entering every year???? Us being a "mid-table" side is the reality, ambition shouldn't merely be based on reality though...if it was then no-one would ever achieve anything in life. i'd rather say "i got to see us become Premiership Champions and play in the Champions league" as i get older and talk to my grandkids in years to come, than "We got into Europe by losing a Cup final once and were then happy to just sit back and survive from there on in" As this is a hypothetical discussion Millsy, if the question was actually given some context how would you answer ... Would you go for winning the league title, if it meant we would be relegated the following year and not return to the Prem for a minimum of twenty years?

I'd definitely swap places with them. Football is about winning.

I'd take it in a heartbeat. There isn't anything to consider for me. I'd give anything to see my team win a major trophy. Our best bet is the FA Cup. Winning the premier league is nigh on an impossibility.
If you said to me you could win the league next season but get relegated the following year, I'd snap your hand off before you'd finished asking the question. Having a team that storms to the premier league title against all the odds, a squad of players that outperforms the likes of Man Utd, Man City, Arsenal and Chelsea, watching MY club be the very best in the country and qualifying for the champions league in the process - that scenario is but a dream for us.
I love how our club has progressed in recent years but if we're being honest, mid table is about as good as it gets for us. If we were to say here for another 10 years it'd be a fine achievement but it'd be nothing to tell the grandkids about when you're on your deathbed.
I'd give my right arm for a true "I was there" moment whilst supporting my club.
Relegation isn't the end of the world. It will no doubt catch up with us at some point anyway. It'd be great if we could win something before that day arrives.

With context and some variables added, people may well have a different answer to the one they've given, so unfair to label them as bonkers and numpties when it IS merely hypothetical.

Seeing Stoke City do this for the first time in our history, regardless of what happens after has to be right at the top of our wish list, doesn't it?
