we sort the injury crisis at the club. Consistency in selection is absolutely essential to have a run of results. This forced chopping & changing every week was inevitably going to result in a performance where no one was sure what the hell they're supposed to be doing, which was the case today.
This isn't helped by the fact a lot of our players returned only on Thursday, and trained for just a day before the game.

To me Hughes is just a strange manager. He goes on little streaks of winning games, but for some reason he gives me absolutely no confidence.

We will never progress unless we do the basics and can defend corner kicks!!! FFS Hughes it's getting ridiculous now. Goals conceded from corners gotta be well into double digits since his tenure began, worst in the league year on year I bet without even looking up the stats. Ffs... :/

This debacle was more down to the players than Sparky. It can only be immensely frustrating for Hughes - he was the sort of player who'd just work and work and work at it, so to see some of this lot with their heads down and not really trying must make him want to get out on the pitch himself! Actually we'd have been better off if he had! He'd have certainly scored that penalty if nothing else!

Don't want boring, run of the mill types round these parts. Hughes is absolutely perfect for us. I just hope we can crack this embarrassing defeats so he can stay here for a long time. I like what he tries to do - even though it doesn't always work - and he think he just fits us like a glove. He's also a thoroughly decent sort with a solid record as a player and a mostly solid record as a manager.

Who was missing from his ideal outfield 10 today?
Whelan and Johnson.
It should hardly become the disaster that you're painting it out to be, especially when you've got an £18 million pound record signing sitting on the bench, should it?
Most teams have always got at least a couple of players out.

Consistency at the players level is what frustrates me. Only Bruno, Pieters and Bardo/Johnson really showed the same level of performance today that they have recently. Everyone else seemed to have a collective brain fart or a mood on e.g. Bojan, Charlie, Bony, Arnie/Shaq maybe... Sort that out and we finish 6th - 8th. Carry on and we carry on with this inconsistency re: results

What a strange statement, all mid table teams go on winning and losing streaks. Chelsea finished 10 last season, did u actualy think that we would be above them this season, so thats 10th before we do anything. We need to spend 50 milion on quality players before we progress to the heady hights of 8th plus. We are a midtable side, with mid table spending and a mid table manager. Pray tell how we finish 7th please, would be very interested for u and other critics to answer.

Yes it's normal for a club our size to go on these streaks as you say. It's his dodgy substitutions, the way he speaks to the press, the woeful start to each season, strange signings (signing the same kind of players) and of course his history from previous clubs.

we wont progress unless we balance the squad better, stop buying/loaning duds and put some pace onto the pitch

Even mouriniho or pep can't win them all with the hundreds of millions they've spent , so sparky ain't doing a bad job we haven't suddenly turned into Barca overnight , we win some we lose some that's football
