Over reaction.....but.....compare Rooney and Ronaldo.
Both naturally gifted....but so different in their approach to fitness and maximizing their potential.

Absolute joke. This is a player celebrating a victory over our closest rivals when he knew he wasn't fit to play on Tuesday and he wasn't due back to Manchester United on the Wednesday. Does that mean I can't get pissed tomorrow night because I've got work on the Monday? What's made this worse is the FA's response in actually banning night outs. Also, there were 10 other players involved and nothings mentioned about them, why?

I stil haven't forgiven this shamble of shit for Iceland, they've got off remarkably lightly as a bunch as far as I'm concerned but this is the biggest load of tabloid arse I've ever read. It's a day off, there's no evidence he was battered (although obviously had a couple). He wasn't going to play on the Tuesday and clearly made that wedding couples and other fans day.
If he'd acted all surly and ge was pictured telling the wedding party to do one, whilst he did thirty squat thrusts and ate a Ryvita in the gym with his head phones on, the headline would of been 'England Captain snubs fans and ruins wedding party'
Rooney comes out of this brilliantly the press and the FA come out of it shamefully.

Slow few days for news and papers need to fill inches.
2 storys that have taken the sport headlines are someone having a drink after work and a manager NOT getting the sack.

And look at their trophy cabinets...... Yeah, I think if I'd won what Wayne has I wouldn't be crying myself to sleep. That's not my point though. If he'd managed himself as well as Ronaldo has, IMO, he would have enjoyed a far more successful career. Ronaldo has extracted every last ounce from his ability by achieving incredible levels of fitness. Wayne has had a good career, but not the great one it could have been.

Media are shitheads.
First time I've ever felt the need to defend a Man U player in my life!
Off duty footballer shuns nightclub adventure, stays in hotel and has a few beers at wedding shocker.
The shame! What will Colleen say!

I hear what you are saying mate but they are wide apart anyway. Its only the stupid money in english football that puts rooney anywhere near ronaldo. Yeah rooney has had a great career but he would never have got anywhere near ronaldo regrdless of dedication etc. A class apart. Saying that the media witchunt is sad but oh so predictable.

Wayne Rooney has had an absolutely brilliant career. Ronaldo as a player is in a completely different league to Wayne Rooney so it's a totally unfair comparison. Ronaldo will go down as one of the greatest players to have played the game. Wayne Rooney whilst really talented is nowhere near that level and never was.

All I can say is that I have met him backstage at a concert and he was absolutely pissed out of his head ( I honestly thought he had been on drugs). He was playing a premiership match a couple of days later and he was crap. It is OK getting pissed on the odd occasion but I put him in the same category as :- George Best Stan Bowles Paul Gascoigne Alan Hudson (unfortunately)
If anyone doubts that I am not telling the truth I will happily post a photograph of Wayne Rooney and my daughter (who sadly got killed in an accident a couple of years ago)

Klopp has just gone up in my estimation for coming out and defending Rooney against the media "outrage".
He correctly points out that the current fitness regime is the best it has ever been, and Rooney will be included in that, despite his refuelling habits in between. He mentions the footballing legends of the past all smoked and drank like Devils, he didn't name names but he was obviously referring to :- Best, Cruyff (that whole Dutch team) , Hudson, Marsh, Socrates, Gascoigne, Parkin

How have they banned night outs? Just for players on an international duty weekend? I don't fully understand this whole story. I don't really see what he's done wrong? He went to a wedding and got drunk? So what...

I want see outrage over dabbing and mannequin challenge Any stoke player who celebrates by dabbing should immediately transfer listed. My 14 year old son after trouncing me online at call of duty came in my room did the stupid dance said "dab" and fucked off, i followed walked behind him and punched him (lightly before someone calls childline)in the arm he looked and asked what was that i said "jab", then left with no sense of dignity or pride whatsoever . The git then grassed me to the mrs who bollocked me for digging him, however i will have my revenge when hes out later i will change the wifi password because im not childish at all.

Surely it's about setting an example to younger kids?
He's the captain of England and was absolutely hammered, in public. What he does privately is up to him, but when in public he needs to act with decorum.
Would it be acceptable for the heir to the throne, leader of the country or senior business leader to be seen like this? No, it wouldn't.
I'm not saying he has to behave like a monk, but what he did was out of order, imho.

Nowt wrong with letting players have a few bevvies. Years back they even had some before the game. OTT about Rooney, I'm not a massive fan of his but he's only human. Even if he doesn't look like one!

Let me get this straight, because of his profession he is not allowed to get drunk in a hotel, when he NOT working? He was at a private event mate, not walking down the high street pissed. Come on, think through what you just posted for a moment - Did he break the law? No. Did he abuse anyone? No. Did he embarrass his club or country with bad behavior? No. Was it a just a couple of pictures he took with fans looking worse for where? Yes!
