He isn't even the worst defender to play for Stoke in the Premier League.

I was never a huge Wollsheild fan, but this is a ridiculous comment.
As for the Huth / Morgan comment - they've shipped 16 goals this season - 1 less than Stoke.
They've shipped a load because they no longer have the protection from Kante. No matter how good your CB's are, they need protection in this league. So no matter what combo of CBs we play this season, unless your protected by a solid midfield and you've got a confident keeper behind you, you'll ship a shit load of goals.

Martins-Indi looks far better suited alongside Shawcross and overall it was the right decision to move Wollscheid on. To be honest I wouldn't want to swap Wes Morgan (quoted in the article) for Martins-Indi either.
They're still some harsh words from Taggart. We kept 13 clean sheets last season with Wollscheid playing in all of those games. While he had mistakes in him he certainly wasn't helped with Shawcross, Johnson, Butland, Pieters, Muniesa, Cameron, Wilson etc. all spending time out injured.

He's up there.
I don't get the slack he's given as he was an obviously atrocious defender.

"They've bought in a European influx of defenders, who are just not the same type of defenders as Ryan Shawcross and Robert Huth."
The above comment wouldn't exactly stand up in a court of law.

I would imagine the Sentinel have had to trawl around a fair old while to find someone willing to put their name to this sort of tripe

Wooly was nowhere near as bad as Andrew Davies, ibrahima sonko, Danny Collins, Jonathan Woodgate or Matthew Upson, all of whom played premier league football in a stoke City shirt.

Not convinced by Indi? Is he pissed? It was this comment that made me think he isn't really paying attention to our performances. He'd probably be more convinced if he had come from another British club!

He's up there. I don't get the slack he's given as he was an obviously atrocious defender. It's not slack, it's more perspective. He always had it in him to be good, it just seemed as though he couldn't mentally get it on the pitch. He's nowhere near as bad as Sonko. What a pile of dog shit that guy was.

Anyone who thinks that Wooly is the worst defender to play for Stoke either has a very short memory or hasn't watched Stoke for very long.

He'd probably be more convinced if he had come from another British club! You can never be sure of the context in a Sentinel article. Taggart might have actually meant that he wasn't convinced about Indi WHEN WE FIRST SIGNED HIM. If that's what he meant he'd be in good company. Can't agree with him about Wolly being the worst defender in the PL though - there are dozens who were far worse - although few with such little pace. I used to really like Taggs - but I went off him a bit when he seemed to be having some sort of love in with Bozzie about the time Bozzie went off the rails.

Load of old bollocks. Didn't rate Phil very highly myself, but Bruno is a 2016 copy of Faye for me. One of my favorite defenders to put on a Stoke shirt.

Roughly translated, we need two croggers at the back.
Football has changed Gerry, you've spouted more bollocks than Higgy in that article, and that's going some.
