Talking on Sky Sports tonight about Joe Allen massively benefitting in his new role. Also gave credit to Yozzer for seeing it in him. Can't think of any Stoke player past or present that put(s) more of a shift in than Joe Allen right now. The bloke absolutely runs his arse off! What a bargain! Value now?

Can't think of any Stoke player past or present that put(s) more of a shift in than Joe Allen right now. The bloke absolutely runs his arse off! Mickey Thomas. As my dad used to say after every match, "Mickey Thomas covered every blade of grass today." Lots of obvious similarities between him and Joe Allen. Mickey was one of my all time favourite Stoke players, and was a crowd favourite. Joe's heading the same way. Looks like a great signing.

And I heard at the match today that Allen has a printing press in his garage - so the similarities between him and Micky Thomas don't end with their performances on the pitch!

Steino, Arnie and Mickey would probably be my three all time favourite Stoke players. Fuckin' hell, we've not won much, but when Huddy* can't make it into my top three, it shows what an awesome list of players I've had the privilege of seeing in my time. That's why it'll be a dark day when Hughes leaves us. He's given us some great players to enjoy. * I'm not saying any of these players are/were better than Huddy. It's just a personal list of players I enjoyed watching the most. I may be slightly pissed! Cheers.

It was a long time ago so can't say which one worked harder, but Joe is fucking awesome, which is what I always thought of Mickey

This is basically what I meant when I posted about Allen last night. I wasn't underwhelmed by his signing but never did I imagine he'd be playing and mastering the role he's in. He has never been the main man like Henry said, he's been a bit of a water carrier. Now we carry the water to him and he turns into wine (because he's Jesus lol).

I come on here with hat in hand and sacrifice myself on the altar of dog's abuse: Joe Allen is 80 times the player I thought he was. I was a fool for not jumping through the roof when Les signed him. Take a bow, son! You are a Stoke legend in the making.

I have always been a fan of Joe Allen even when he was playing for Swanseea and Liverpool. He is a absolute bargain at 13m and has repayed that back already in performances and goals.I dont know what Liverpool were thinking letting him go he is an awesome player who fits into our squad perfectly. He has to be the signing of the season. Liverpools loss is defenitely our gain and Joe Allen will surely become a Stoke City Legend

I hope his Liverpool tenure has put the really top clubs off from thinking he'd be a great squad player for them.
He might be one of those players that thrive being the big fish in a smaller team type of player
