I'm not well. Ok, it's not ManFlu, but this bug has been brewing for weeks & has finally unleashed itself on half term week(typical) I could have blagged myself a few days off work(which I V rarely do)if I'd not been off anyway. When was the last time you copped a sickie for manflu, wineflu or any other ailment(ale-ment!?!)

Suffered with the dreaded hangover flu a few times. Going back a while now, but a nastier affliction you'd be hard pressed to find. Directly linked to playing hockey on a Sunday and overindulgence immediately after.

Take a day off all the time for flu. One day in bed in the early stages is better than longer
I always go in first and make everyone aware I'm ill. Easy to have the time off then

Sometimes it's better to work to take your mind off it and get away from the nagging wife who thinks your faking it. My achilles heal seems to be trapped nerves in neck and lower back. The agony working with them is horrific sometimes, especially when i can barely stand and am using my hands to walk to take the pressure away. What can my boss do, i either take weeks off or struggle on. I obviously arent capable of getting as much wotk done, but i reckon i annoy him more when i need a hand to lift something which isn't heavy. I tend to suffer for weeks and months too. I probably need a scan to find the cause of the problem, but the doctor just says take paracetamol and ibrufen.

He sounds a right cnut, what was your job at the time... he was self employed Id loved to have witnessed that conversation. Tuppence on the phone to himself, asking if he can have the day off, with his girlfriend lying naked in a nubile frenzy! Proper Madness...I wonder what became of her!?!

Last one I had was my first year at college I work at which was 2008. I was off for ten days. I believe that I have slowly built up natural immunities, over the intervening years, to much of the stuff that wings its way around the staff every year. Have the occasional head cold but nothing to have time off for.

Back in February I had to take three days off with the worst bout of lurgy I'd had for years. I had had the flu jab as well. Rarely take time off - normally I just soldier on with bad colds, even though teaching is a bloody awful job when you feel like shit - but there was something going around and I wasn't the only one hit by it. I couldn't eat (lost five pounds in weight) and it felt like my head was going to fall off. I passed it on to several mates and they all agreed it was the worst they had felt for years.

i had that swine flu a few years back, wife got it first and passed it on to me, she must have diluted it though as she was off work for a week and me only 2 days.
