There's a proper centre-back playing for Rangers on BT 1. His name is Clint Hill.

For England's sake, I wish he was a great player, but he's not. Unfortunately, he may be the best available, which is not very encouraging. Keane is better too. He's stepped up the Premier League with ease. The touch to put it behind for a corner yesterday when the ball was past him with a man behind him was absolutely class.

As for Stones...shite.
Best stat is his pass completion rate and most of the time they're suicide balls that put the team under pressure.

Really disappointed we didn't get him when we were after him. He impressed me when they were last up. He reminds me of Shawcross so much.

I think he's just a bit thick to be a top player Gazza? Didn't say every player was too thick to be a top player, Ian Rush for example

For England's sake, I wish he was a great player, but he's not. Unfortunately, he may be the best available, which is not very encouraging. He's not though. Shawcross is 100 times the player. Cahill, Smalling and even Jones are better. Keane is better too. Maybe not Mike Smalling.

He had the ball for a full ten seconds, ignored a safe pass out to the wing, then without looking first plays a hospital ball across the front of his own area.
shocking.
but hey, it doesn't suit the agenda, he's the new franz beckenbaur after all, so lets blame somebody, anybody, else, as always.

All fundamental, basic points. Nothing to do with tactics or styles of play, just plain poor decision making.

Since the start of last season, John Stones has made more individual errors than any other Premiership player that has directly contributed to a goal.

The MOTD2 analysis was truly cringeworthy. More telling is Redmond saying he sniffed a mistake, translation, Stones had the ball!

I love how old skool Shawcross is still. In the game on saturday the ball went down near the corner flag and Ryan had to run back to collect it. There was a Hull player bearing down on him but still about 10 metres away.
Most "ball-playing" centre-halves would have tried an inside pass back to the goalkeeper to deal with. Not even a 2nd thought from Ryan as he literally wellies the ball into the stands for a Hull throw-in before assuming his defensive position.
Now thats proper defending right there!
