Thats a massive achievement, there cannot be many fanzines who've had that many editions. Well done Martin, Dave and all involved past and present.

Remember the first time i bought a copy outside the old club shop at The Vic.Think it was either issue 4 or 5.Recall some of the earlier versions were on green and pink copier paper, possibly photocopied.Instantly hooked.Wonder if issue 1 is worth a bit now, never managed to get a copy.

Do Vale still do that Seth Bottomley fanzine, recall reading my mates copy of it at work. I don't think so mate. BUT I was in a Boslem boozer in 2014 and bought a different one and it was pretty good. It only mentioned Stoke twice!

The best front cover was Nelson Mandela, after being released from 27 years in prison, asking his wife "have Stoke won owt yet duck" Marvellous 😊

1st Oatcake I ever bought was I think issue 5 or 6, although cannot remember the front cover (think it had George Berry on it). Always remember the "free suicide pill" Derby Day special Oh and as a thought to sadly departed fanzines, a trip to Select-a-disc in Nottingham for such delights as Leyton Orienteer, Brian Moores Head (Gillingham) and King Of The Kippax (Man City)

I laughed my bollocks off at the fake article that Vale were claiming we had too many foreign players, "and hasn't Forsyth got a bit of chinese in him?"...

Yes, congratulations to all concerned, I actually enjoy the fanzine most during the dark times, gallows humour is somehow more life affirming than its polar opposite false hope! Either way simply a phenomenal effort all round

Many of us are either foreigners (me) or were too young (definitely not me) to appreciate the early editions. How about to celebrate the big 600, you create a weekly post on here highlighting one oatcake (my preference would be sequentially from issue 1 )? Maybe a picture of the front, the editorial, cartoon and article? I know that I'd certainly appreciate the opportunity and I am sure many others on here would too! Again Thanks for all you've done!

Fantastic achievement really and it's a testament to the quality of the content that the printed fanzine is still going strong today despite the fact that the concept of a printed fanzine has been pretty much made redundant by the internet for over a decade now. Consequently most of the 90s fanzines died a long time ago in the 2000s.
It's been it's ability to adapt it's purpose and retain the editorial quality that has kept The Oatcake going for so long. Originally it was a medium to share uncensored supporter opinion, satirically mock players and people at the club and if necessary help organise protests and bring supporters together in times of trouble. The internet has made many of those functions redundant but it has stayed relevant thanks to quality editorial content and articles which are all exclusive to the fanzine and not available online. A home weekend wouldn't be the same without the oatcake to read on the bog in the evening.
