www.stokesentinel.co.uk/stoke-city-giannelli-imbula-will-want-to-prove-himself-says-coates/story-29793437-detail/story.htmlJoe Allen is a doubt for the next game after withdrawing from the Wales squad with a hamstring strain.
The all-action 26-year-old has been carefully managing the problem over the last couple of weeks and Wales manager Chris Coleman has urged Stoke not to rush him back.
He said: “We really need Joe next month (against Serbia on November 12). So from between now and then what he does is going to be very important.
“Whether he comes back too soon for Stoke, hopefully he won't. I'm sure they won't take a chance with him."
Coleman seems to be hinting he may be a genuine doubt for Sunderland at least. Assuming the Whelan/Cameron duo is retained, it'll be interesting to see if Hughes chooses to re-introduce Imbula or goes with Bojan? Suppose Adam would think he's a contender too.

Bojan.
Best player we've got arguably.
I think he's out of the team simply because Hughes wanted some more robust performances during this bad spell.
Ideally I'd like to see Bojan in his usual position and Allen in the normal centre mid role where he plays for Wales

Forecasting a very disjointed and lackluster display Saturday with the international Break trotted out as the reason for pouts dropped . said it last Sunday and again today to avoid claims of benefit of hindsight . They have a big advantage going into this game probably the most important of Hughes reign .

The Sunderland game will be similar to many we saw at the Bet last season where teams sat back and made it hard for us to breakdown its fair to say we performed poorly in most of those games. we need a bit of guile and unpredictability in midfield to open a packed defence. So Imbula isn't the answer. I like the solidity of a Cameron Whelan Allen midfield away from home but is it attacking enough for a bottom of the table scrap? So its Bojan also for me lets hope Hughes agrees

Surely against this shower of shite we can be more expansive? Adam or Imbula.

I wouldn't risk Allen. Depressing news. Feel dispirited already. Cup half empty as bloody usual. All we need now is Shaq to get injured again! Bloody internationals!

Adam. He always has good games against them.

I'd probably go for Adam. Still think we need that steel in there, which Bojan and Imbula lack.

In a game at home to Sunderland surely it has to be Bojan

Dear Mr. Coleman,
Thank you for your advice that Stoke City should rest Joe Allen until the next Wales game against Serbia on November 12th.
I appreciate after last nights draw with lowly Georgia the World Cup qualifying group doesn't look quite as clever for our beloved red dragons as it did.
However if you want to see what precarious really looks like you should take a look at the Premier League table and for that reason and because Stoke City pay his wages our medical team will consult with Joe and myself to determine when he is next fit to play.
Yours a Welshman, Mark 'Sparky' Hughes

Would love to see Shaq in number 10 with Sobhi out-wide but it wont happen and Adam next to Whelan
Adam Whelan
Sobhi Shaq Arnie Bony
That team has the potential to score 4 or 5 goals

Whelan Cameron Allen Adam Bojan Imbula Afellay Ireland
Here in lies the problem - there is such varied opinion on the first choice 2 / 3. Then throw injuries in the mix and there's been a lack of consistency in building a robust combination.
I increasingly doubt Hughes knows his best 3 at the moment.
The move to Whelan and Cameron seems to have tightened things up a bit - and Adam would be the more like for like replacement for Allen.
Would love to say Bojan would be the answer for this game but current evidence to suggest this would be a good move is elusive....

Wouldn't be adverse to Bojan but Shaq looks o much better central so I would love to see
Whelan Cameron Sobhi Shaq Arnie Bony
Then again a roaming Imbula with less defensive duties might not be a bad thing
Nah - Shaq for me

A midfield three has kept us in games, in with a chance. I'm in agreement with those who'd prefer to try it without Glenn or indeed a 'Whelan' role. I havn't seen Glenn in the Ireland games, so can't comment where his form is at, seemed like time for rest before the break. And depends on how Geoff reacts to his travels. At the moment I'd opt for: Cameron Adam Imbula Bojan for Imbula Diouf/Crouch for Bony Require more from Bony, it could become almost a 442 on the front foot, Imbula and/or Arnie moving up front with Wilf. Adam could put crosses in from left mid with Imbula covering him. {on paper.} See how the week pans out, Good Luck and God's speed to Shaq against them Andorran Goats toneet.

2 upfront would definitely be interesting for a change to see us create some chances. Plus I doubt Sunderland would be expecting it.
This is a must WIN game. I understand bringing in 2 defensive midfielders has helped shore up the defence but we look so slow and tired going forward. We need to go more attacking this weekend.

I think he'll risk Allen given what's at stake. I genuinely feel his jobs on the line. A defeat and im pretty confident he's gone. Probably the same for Moyes although he may get more time given he wasn't exactly blessed with a good team and it will cost Sunderland a good chunk to sack him I suspect.

Here' a hypothetical situation. Suppose it all goes pear shaped for the next 3 games* and LMH leaves on 1st November after a nightmare Halloween. Then Coleman replaces him and inherits a semi-fit Joe Allen. Would he release Joe to Wales when he obviously has a key part to play for us?
*Disclaimer: much rather Sparky sorts it out by the Swansea game and there is no chance of this happening.
