No doubt it'll be a bit of a yawn and a comfortable 4 or 5-0 win - and no doubt Rooney will be comfortable playing against a League 2 standard team deep in midfield and spraying his Hollywood balls around their part-timers. But I really wish Southgate would have been bold and left him out, rather than this pussy-footing around the elephant in the room
Hart Walker Cahill Stones Bertrand Rooney Henderson Walcott Alli Lingard Sturridge

England as a football team are a laughing stock of world football. This band of players will have to go a long way to gain some respect back.

TBH mate english football is a laughing stock not just the team. The FA, PL, managers, players, agents, the media and some club owners have ensured this accolade. I don't know where to begin with shedding this. Perhaps a good run in the 2018 WC finals in Russia might start the reverse but with the current squad of mediocre players it ain't going to happen. We may easily qualify as we did for the Euros but, as always, that will bring false hope.

Finding it really hard to summon up the interest to watch. I would have put the effort in if they were kicking off at 3 pm, but these evening kick offs are a waste of time.
What has Walcott done to merit a start? He's an injury prone plodder who runs really fast and falls over a lot.

Lars lagerback seems to have sussed us Out. Massively overrated and when it comes to the crunch we have no idea how to win competitive football matches. Now we have Gareth Southgate leading the charge. I think I'll be giving it a miss

Not watched MOTD or Goals on Sunday? Not read any sports sections of the newspapers? Not watched Sky Sports? Not listened to any sports based radio? If the answer is no to all of those questions you can just about get away with your post on a technicality.

What's gone is gone. It's a fresh start as far as I'm concerned. Southgate comes across well, albeit he looks like a man who wants the job but isn't really sure if he can hack it. We have some decent young players. If you're English, give 'em a chance and get behind them.

The problem with this team is the there is no one to go past a player. It's why we need Barkley or Wilshere in the side. People who can dribble in tight areas.

I can pass a ball square and backward for fucks sake, someone needs to tell them we have to stick the ball in the white things at the end of the pitch, watching England is like watching an Adele concert.

But I don't know what it says about international management in 2016 that a bloke whose only achievement in club football is relegating Middlesbrough is the go-to guy. It would have been unthinkable a couple of decades ago when people like Howard Kendall were being snubbed - but those days are over and this is the new normal!

I think the last thing we need is a couple more overrated passengers in the team mate. Barkley is to international football what graham hick was to cricket, a flat track bully. And wilshite was an embarassment in the euros.

Wilshere was great when he first burst on the scene. I remember being genuinely excited by him when he played against Wales about 5 years ago.
He isn't that player any longer, is he? Shame as he looked like he might be our next potentially difference-making midfielder. I think we've seen enough to know he definitely won't be now.
Jury's still out on Barkley, but it's not looking all that promising despite him having bundles of ability.

Ok, this year will be totally different and he definitely won't spend most of his time running very fast in in a straight line before spending six months out injured.
