Hamstring injury Unlikely to be fit for Sunderland, a big blow Step up Imbula I'd have thought Allen might be fit for Sunderland. He first felt his hamstring against West Brom and failed to train all week and then managed a full game (and a goal) a week later at Old Trafford. He now has a week to rest his hamstring before facing Sunderland - just as he did against Man U. He wasn't limping when he came off against Austria so it sound as if it is a tweek not a tear so he might make it with a week's rest. Hope so.

Time to play Bojan as a proper number ten. We're not away at Man United next week.

If he is out and whoever comes in for him, it will be a massive blow. The difference between three points and one IMO.

I haven't seen anything to say he's unlikely for sunderland, just Coleman saying Wales will have to do without him. As you say, he had a twinge a few weeks ago and felt it in the Wales game. Wales "doing without him" sounds more like Stoke stepping in and saying he needs to be rested than anything else, as they're against a team they should beat anyway.

If Allen is out for the Sunderland game, it's gotta be Bojan as his replacement surely!!!

"But Joe won't be available. With the problem he's got you could play him or train him and it could go any minute."
Coleman hopes Allen will be fit when they host Serbia on Saturday, 12 November in Group D.
"We really need him next month. So from between now and then what he does is going to be very important," said the Wales boss.
"Whether he comes back too soon for Stoke, hopefully he won't. I'm sure they won't take a chance with him."
So let's hope we wrap him up in cotton wool until the 12th November.

This is typical "manager speak" from Coleman. So, the problem he has suggests the best thing to do is to "wrap him in cotton wool until 12th November" according to Coleman. So why did Coleman play him against Austria - if he needs wrapping in cotton wool the two week international break would have been an ideal time to do it.Coleman is saying what he is saying so he can lay the blame at Stoke's door if Allen is not fit on 12th November. not that I blame him for doing this - but let's not hang on Coleman's every word and think he's necessarily telling it like it is. I'm sure every international manager would love it if a player with a niggling soft tissue injury was wrapped in cotton wool for exactly a month until the next international break! ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/kwfoKwtHI0jglJZ4qZf6.gif)

If he's felt a tweak in a couple of games (rather than a one off) chances are it will go sometime soon unless he rests up. Coleman is right - Stoke should give him time for it to heal before risking him otherwise Wales and Stoke are going to lose an important player for some time.

Coleman is right - Stoke should give him time for it to heal before risking him otherwise Wales and Stoke are going to lose an important player for some time. On the other hand - when he had a week's rest between games (Baggies to Man Utd) he got through the second game OK. When he had 4 days between games (Man Utd to Austria) he lasted less than an hour. Had the Wales Austria match been tomorrow he might have managed OK. Obviously there is a problem - but I suspect 2 games in 4 days has made it worse than it otherwise would have been. In fact I'd go so far as to say had he been rested over the current international break he'd have benefited from that. But Coleman (who will have been advised of the problem when Allen joined the Wales squad if not before) opted to play him for his second game in 4 days. Now he wants him wrapped in cotton wool for a month - surely there is some hypocrisy at work here?

That's not quite what Coleman is saying though. He says keep him in cotton wool until the next Wales international comes up and then Coleman can flog him some more until his hamstring twangs again ![O_o](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/cGxK1LQ3mbwGz59PPCrG.gif)

This is your classic club v country.Coleman wants us to rest him but LMH will be desperate to get him out there with vital matches coming up.My guess is he will be rested v Sunderland and hopefully he will be ready for the next game.Time for Bojan to step forward and hope that the lack of defensive quality that Joe gives us as well his goals will not cost us.I hate the Internationals.

I think Joe Allen will want to play so he will do everything to get fit. If unfortunately he isnt then it has to be Bojan for me

If Joe has a hamstring problem we should have pulled him out of this weekend's games. Danny Drinkwater pulled out of the England squad despite finishing the game for Leicester last week. That's how we should be treating our players - wrapping them up in cotton wool so they can play for us, not for frigging useless internationals. Hopefully Joe will be fit for our next 4 games then he can have a nice long break before the game against Bournemouth. Did I mention Bollocks to Wales already?

Did say last week Sunderland had a big advantage with the lack of players away . And forecast a draw or worse with international week sighted afterwards as the reason for a sluggish display .
Horrible feeling gays young to be spot on .

If Allen is out for a few weeks, Imbulla will never have a better chance to get himself up and running (unless of course MH picks Adam - a truly retrograde step I would say). Sorry - only saw the other thread after I had posted, thanks Admin.

I would find space for Bojan especially in a match such as against Sunderland where we just have to be on the offensive but Imbulla plays a more Allen-type role in what was beginning to emerge.
