i don't think anyone who reads that article could include it as a similar thing can they? the mirror start by saying it was an attempted "Snatch" then go on to reveal that no-one was even touched by anyone, nothing illegal was done and it was actually merely suspicious that a car had stopped on that particular road (So the Mirror report "They must have stopped to kidnap a serviceman...simply must have...even though the people in the car didn't touch anyone, approach anyone or do anything whatsoever" when in reality nothing of the sort was reported by the serviceman in question) the headline doesn't even come close to matching the article and what the Police say in any way, shape or form! that's nothing other than a greasy tabloid trading off a previous event and sensationalising a headline that reads completely differently from the actual story itself.

I suppose one thing that tends to suggest it is not a sinister kidnapping is the fact that by now they would have released footage of his torture or even worse...Lets hope he has simply gone AWOL...

spot on mate, in fact i'm going to give up the amateur sleuthing on this one.
not really the time or the place so apologies if i've taken the thread off it's natural course, the only important thing is hoping he's returned safe!

Over 3 weeks now. Is it making the news over there, are they still looking for him. Odd case this...None of the obvious scenarios really play out...

It's a real tragedy when this happens both for the poor person himself and also for the family and friends involved and affected. Hopefully there will be a happy conclusion to this but after this length of time it doesn't look too promising.

You'd have thought the fact that he is Military then all branches, especially RAF would have had 100's of volunteers out looking for him, and surely with such a huge amount of man power they'd have found him by now if he'd perished on his way back to base. I really hope nothing sinister happened, and he has simply legged it and gone AWOL...

police are searching a landfill site he was last seen enteringa service yard where there were a few large bins, which were emptied into a bin lorry at 04.30, his mobile phone pinged a mobile phone mast on route to the landfill.
I think we've all slept in a waste bin or a skip on a jetty at one time when pissed, waiting for the officer of the day on the quarterdeck to go away so he can't see you returning pissed up.

It might not even be foul play. He may, as you said, laid himself up in a big bin when pissed up and possibly asphyxiated? It happened by Wolstanton ASDA once. The police aren't looking good at the moment regarding the conduct of the investigation.

Don't think it's the police, the lorry company gave them the weight of the load as 11kg so police ruled it out, they then came back within last week and said the true weight was 100kg.

If I remember correctly, the family were flagging up the refuse tip a few weeks ago, due to the private investigators they used.

If they do find him in this landfill site it really doesn't bear thinking about the state his remains will be in after all this time.

So far they've shifted 65 tonnes in 3 days going down 8 metres minimum apparently. Police from 3 counties wearing all the kit and they're having to pump a bubble gum smell to mask the smell of the decaying waste, hence no dogs. Bloody good luck to them, I suspect they're going to be there for a while yet.

What baffles me is the bin lorry driver saying 11KGs, that's nothing, our kitchen bin has that in it when we empty it, even the 100KG that they actually had seems low, unless of course they pay by weight at the landfill and was trying to save a few quid. But lets say this was the case, and he thought that's odd...You never know, the poor kid may have still been alive and possibly saved before being dumped.. Only speculating... Either way, I hope for his families sake they can finally lay him to rest...
