There's no way Coates is going to take a leap into the unknown barrel of mediocre candidates on the basis of today. It won't even enter his mind.
We just need to finish ahead of Burnley, Hull and Sunderland as a bottom line.
We weren't great, but we were reasonably good and he certainly hasn't lost the players.

Sorry but some people need to drop their stupid fucking agendas. Doesn't know how to turn it around ?? The last two games have been much better. Imbecilic nonsense to suggest otherwise. We lost one and drawn one, against Hull reserves and WBA. Yeah we've really turned the corner! And sacking Hughes will help how? We stand a much better chance brute forcing our way through this shit storm with Hughes at the helm, the signs we're seeing are good, we need to iron out some issues but starting again with someone like Bruce would be even worse

I struggle to think of a manager who would have given us a worse start to the season. You are absolutely right, there is no outstanding candidate but I'd question if even Hodgson or Rowett could perform worse than Hughes over the last 6 months. What about the previous 3 seasons? That all forgot a about. So, we keep a manager who has been appalling for 6 months because he was alright before then? Look, I'm grateful for what he's done, but this is much, much more than a blip.

It's been like this for the best part of half a season (games wise). There's no signs of it relenting.

I said last wk that he had to go after the WBA game not matter what the results unless the performances were much better.
Now I'm confused, the results aren't there (in fact a loss and a draw AT HOME is fucking terrible) but the performances have been really good - so he hasn't lost the dressing room like many feared.
Surely if we carry on playing like this when we play Sunderland etc then the results will come.
BUT they haven't come against WBA and Hull B, so they might not come? And if we don't win those games then we are fucked.
Stick or twist? I really don't have a clue anymore.

No he doesn't , that performance showed that he can change the team around to get a result, which we did got a point and should of been three, when your lucks out it out, like we will games later in the season where we don't deserve to win either (or a point)

Biggest thing for me today was that the players looked up for it.
Dressing room morale must be intact and relationship with manager okay
Good to build on

He hasn't lost the players and they are playing for him as today proved. If we were shite today and lost I would agree with you as it would look like he lost the players, but thy didn't happen. Give him half a dozen more games and support the team.

After the last two league games before today I was also doubting Hughes. Today has restored my faith, we were so much better today and you could tell that they'd worked in the week to such an extent you could actually see the improvement in our defensive shape. Yes the lapse at the end was a sickener but I'm feeling a lot happier tonight. What a difference also to have someone (Shaq) run at defenders and try to get behind defenders instead of passing in front and across their back line Onwards and definitely upwards!

So much happier and plenty there to build on and we will be ok. Shaq and Allen could of got mom but was a good Boost to Ryan that he got it but the sponsors were probably on there 5th bottle of wine!!! Mark Hughes has to stay the negative Cunts on here have to go.

Hughes is a proud man and should be treated with respect.
Monday is the time to tell him that the ManUre game will be his last. Let him enjoy his last day in management at the ground where he was adored. Then he can bow out quietly.

Behave yourselves and dry your knickers some of you.
All you're doing is feeding half-arsed 'journos' who will want to make it into a full-on drama.
Not a chance he's getting a P with a 45 behind it from the family at the moment.
And that's even assuming there actually is anyone out there as a credible, hit-the-ground-running, massive improvement on MLH.
No, it's not great; it's a huge pisser that we didn't send the capped one back to Rio de Smethwick with no points and it's by no means 'fixed' yet - but we ain't sacking the gaffer and we ain't getting relegated.
Deal with it.

Butland has been papering over the cracks and today we managed just one shot on target against a piss poor West Brom team at home. So, I'd rather not give him a dozen more games in which he can turn potential relegation into likely relegation.

He quite clearly hasn't lost the players.
Whether he's still the man to do the job remains to be seen but there's no way he should go at this present moment.

Some people need to man up and stick with the club, manager and players when the going is tough
We're in it together and if we celebrate the good stuff together then we need to endure the not so good together
Onwards and upwards.

You can't blame luck all the time. We were mediocre at best in the first three games, fell apart in the second half against Spurs and were simply shambolic against Palarse.
The last two games though it has been mostly down to bad luck. On balance, we deserved to win both those games but it just isn't happening at the moment.
There have been clear signs of improvement in the last two games even if we haven't got the results. There was no lack of effort and no sign that this is a team that has given up on the manager. Stick with him until Sunderland at least.

Ive ve dealt with it except we aren't getting relegated right now and over the last twenty games we are . If the family choose to do nothing it's their prerogative but our inability to score , our inability to defend , our inability to see games out ,and our total failure of a summer so we are relying on Derby's third choice Keeper which cost us so dear today will see us relegated . As of next Sunday night we will need 38 points from 31 games and that's a huge improvement on our running rate over 5 10 or 20'games Very sad as in the end the manager will go but it's the last three windows that have set us on course for Barnsley and Rotherham next autumn ANC that dots at the door of the CEO who interestingly can't be seen or heard right now

Many positives today but unfortunately my mind was made up after the Palace game.
We really should be capable of beating both Palace and WBA. We did not, and once again we failed to keep a clean sheet.
Our team is a shambles, the manager cannot do anything about it. It's time for a change before it's too late to save the season.

Clearly some people on here that are not Stoke fans and just on the wind up. Get your rods out lads you'll get plenty of bites - sad really that you get enjoyment from it. Great performance and it would be typical of Stoke to go and get something away at United. Well said. Unfortunately we have a lot of attention seeking drama queens on The Oatcake who will say anything to get mummys attention. It's the same people slagging off Stoke at every opportunity moaning and whingeing and sobbing when they can't have their own way. Fucking pathetic.

If we can build on this we will be fine Yet again we were unlucky !, unlucky that we could not score when we were on top and finish the game off ?, unlucky that our manager makes fuck up substitutions ?, unlucky we still can not defend set pieces ? unlucky we can not see a game out against poor opposition who did not come here to win ?, yeh ok it's all down to bad luck like fuck it is.
