The Irish contingent have a combined age on Tuesday after Jon Walters birthday of 105, that in itself of progression is absolutely diabolical of a club who are trying to progress.
Don't get me wrong, Whelan and Walters have been superb servants to stoke and deserve all of their praise but they should be nowhere near that starting 11. How we have not addressed this is unreal. Last week after the Hughes out post I said it was shocking how people were calling for his head but after that today, I see no way back as TP will be licking his lips at that defending today. Hughes for me has two games to save his job. I personally don't think he will, we are a team of individuals at present and not a team we know and love.

Been saying it for weeks but nobody listened. They physically cannot keep up anymore.

That first goal today, any other keeper comes, punches and takes all in his way, Given's reactions are just so slow and shit, I may as well be in nets. Bachman for me.

It could probably be argued that failing to address the goalkeeper situation is the main cause of all this. Give goals away like confetti. As for Walters and Whelan, they've lost it. They have to be benched from now on, with bojan

Keepers lack of mobility and slow reactions cost us two goals today, we still conceded two others that meant we'd still lose. Problems are far bigger than that. Although changing the keeper, for me, would be a starter for ten. Change to who though is the question. Hughes has named Bachman in the squad, so perhaps time to give him his chance. Butland can't get back soon enough for me.

He shouldn't be at the club. He is no longer a Premier League keeper.
Lee Grant next game and his shirt to keep. After that, christ knows.

When Haugaard conceded a few goals last year he was promptly dropped. Given needs not just dropping but dropping off at the nearest airport with a one way ticket. Crap isn't the word!

Agreed Cilla. They pump money in now and again, but in the wrong places. Messed up big style for me. This squad is all over the place!

The issue with Whelan is - what's the alternative?
Whelan hasn't been his commanding best, this isn't his own fault but his natural decline as he gets older. It would be suicide to get rid of Whelan but equally it's suicidal to keep relying on him as he gets older

What I don't get re yourself and others who say he should be given 2 more games but doubt he can turn it around, is therefore why not just go now? It is a shame but this road has run out

Chocolate Fireguaard has an ankle injury.
We could do with seeing Grant in goal, but we probably won't as yet again we've acquired a player of Championship quality.

Agree none should be near the side.
Who's fault is it that this hasn't been addressed?
Fault lies solely at the door of our "technical director" and chief exec, it's their jobs to make sure we aren't caught short like this.
Yet here we are.
Whelan and Walters need dropping. It not work but we need a few games to find out. Can't be any worse than now. Allen, Imbula and Bojan must start at home. And Sobhi out wide
We need to see how good he is, it will give the crowd a lift and the rest of the team can see a player who wants to be on the pitch!

As a fellow Irishman myself I would like to defend the three but a bit like Stoke I have absolutely no defence.

Dropping Imbula (rightly so) unfortunately meant that Whelan had to play. As for Given and Walters they're both well past their best and should be on the bench at most.

Any regular, starting keeper in the top 2 divisions would have dealt with that free kick. We have the poorest keeper in the league buy some distance. When Butland returns we will have the poorest back up keeper.

Whelan has a part to play. Walters has an impact part to play.
Given is dreadful and I hope yesterday was his last game for Stoke. It's a bitter end to a great career.

This --- In the stands with my lad yesterday i turned and said " forget about the defending being shit -- the keeper has to take the danger out of that floated chip every time -- man and ball if necessary " An absolute pat on the back for anyone who made the journey yesterday .. It must of been bad watching it on Sky and in the pubs but to go all the way to that god forsaken hole and to have the game beyond us in 12 minutes with 2 goals from their centre backs was taking the piss How much time and space did Dann have on the second goal as well .... I have always defending Ryan and the stick he gets about "holding " on to players ... It does look though that he has no plan B in defending a set piece . He is either not up to it or scared to death -- either way we are deep in the shit -- Captain ?? -- Not for me -- The only candidate for this at the moment would be Allen ?

I remember about four years ago watching an Ireland game and thinking that Given was well past passed it. He shipped a lot of goals during the game. He was slow and everything just seemed to just go through him. I couldn't believe it when he signed for Villa as he was stealing a living. To now have him in our team as first choice some 3 to 4 years later is totally crazy. Hughes should be sacked on the grounds of professional negligence for allowing this to happen.
