Hello to all. New here & just introducing myself to the board.
With the proposed plan to fill in the scoreboard corner next summer, does anyone think that it might be a good place to put the away fans? Personally I feel they get it too cushy at the moment having nearly the whole stand & being next to the tunnel possibly motivating their team. I'd love to cram them in that corner & have our lot screaming at them from both sides. There's no doubt that our ground is one of the best grounds in the League for intimidating away teams, but I think that the sight of our fans on both sides when coming out of the tunnel could add a psychological edge.
Anyone actually care or have any thoughts on the matter?

We've been discussing it for a long time already and if there is room I'd like them there too. Welcome to the Oatcake.

I think the issue lies with the 'pen' that exists outside the away part of the stand. Obviously with the new corner it would put them further away from their coaches and would mean walking past Stokies coming out of the ground. I've not seen much in the way of trouble with away supporters who walk around the ground but I suppose you never know.
It would also put them next to family stand wouldn't it?
As ever it would seem the ground has been designed the wrong way around.

Welcome to the Oatcake. I 100% agree with you. No idea why we have the away fans right by the tunnel to spur on their team. Have them penned in that corner to rot so we can bombard them from all angles.

The South Stand is the same end as the old Boothen end so that should have been the Boothen End. It annoys me that the away supporters and teams have this advantage!

As ever it would seem the ground has been designed the wrong way around. Agree with this and can't see it changing any time soon. Going on what was said during the stadium tours in 1997 they wanted the away fans on that side to make it easier to ship them in and out, rather than sticking them on the north side. They also said it would be better for the team to see the north and east stands full of Stoke supporters when they run out of the tunnel. I think all the thought went into what the players would see rather than what they'd hear just to the immediate right in the south stand(!)

It would also mean 2 lots of segregation between the fans, losing another few hundred seats, can't see it happening

Best chance is when the Boothen/Main stand corner is developed (in ? years) and to build new dressing rooms and tunnel at that new corner. That would keep the away fans near their coach park and move the whole tunnel area to friendly territory at the Boothen End of the ground.

As mentioned, putting the away fans next to family stand doesn't sound a great idea, I've never really understood why people think its such a big thing having the away lot where they are.

Does it matter where they sit or stand we have been in this league since 2008 ,as it made a difference to any results doubt it but it could be used as another excuse, they should all be like Stokes away support then we can fit them all in Block 10

Its not the section for away fans that's in the wrong place it's the players tunnel, the tunnel should be between the main stand and the Boothen, its a badly thought out cobbled together McStadium from the 90'S. As soon as the new corner is built and sells out, which it will, the club should build that corner and move the dressing rooms, then they can redevelop the club shop and office's corner and we will finally have a 35K+ finished stadium.

There's no possibility of the dressing room corner being filled in.
The away fans should be stuck next to the Boothen after that's filled in. Leave the tunnel where it is.
Let the coaches park up behind the South Stand and let the away fans on them walk to The Boothen enclosure.
