A massive part of the problem today. The midfield including him were AWOL. He'd go galavanting up the pitch, Imbula would mill around doing God knows what leaving Whelan on his own or out of position and their attackers to run at our defence unhindered. The midfield today (all of them) were an absolute disgrace and did nothing to protect the back 4. It just took one ball most of the time to render Allen and Imbula useless. That's not good enough. It's piss poor planning and the discipline shown was shambolic. I said exactly the same thing to my mate earlier, Allen and Imbula are both box to box players neither are a proper CAM or CDM. I don't think they can be in the same team They can't, they play in EXACTLY the same position. I haven't a clue what the manager's thought process is on this. Bojan has to play though, or Bony's going to find himself completely isolated.

There was nothing more he could have done today, we took one of the best strikers in the league (and that's what I believe he is) and completely played him out of the game. It's been a while since we've done that tbf....... Oops.

It was a helluva coup for us to get Bony, I hope the manager isn't about to fuck it up.

I would give Imbula a spell on the bench. I think it would do him good.
Let Whelen do what he does.
Let Allen play as he should he cannot replace Whelen.
Play Bojan now we have Bony to hold it up and feed him in.
I think this would be best for the team and Imbula to learn more. Bojan is quality we know that and if he can hit form playing behind Bony there are goals in them 2.
We need GJ back ASAP at right back to get the right side running to get balls into the box for Bony.
A poor start yes but Hughes just needs to tweak things which he is capable of doing. We had a shite start last year so we have the players to have a good season.
JB being out is a huge loss but he will be back.
My thoughts anyway.

I think Imbula has proven he is not a box to box player. He's great with the ball at his feet driving forward, also fine knocking quick passes around the middle... But as soon as he doesn't have the ball he's a liability.

Hopefully with BMI in the side he will start giving the ball to Imbula more from the back. The guy needs to be constantly involved.
Ryan just sees a big man and hoofs it. One of the reasons he will never play for England.

Allen was one of the only players who could walk away with any dignity from yesterday's game. He's an excellent player with a positive attitude. He never gave up yesterday. Least of our worries and should arguably be made captain at some stage.

One of the reasons he will never play for England. Haven't you got to get balls into Bony for him to work? The issue yesterday was the lack of variety of the balls into him (due to the midfield selection) and not having anyone within 20 yards of him (due to the midfield selection).

I definitely have. Nothing has changed now since then. The same issues were here then that are there now. Like I said it was a case of head in the sands or simply not being able to spot it. Just because you sit on here moaning 24/7 and we are now playing really badly does not mean you have been a reincarnation of Sir Alex fucking Ferguson you egotistical maniac.

Just because people do not moan like you doesn't mean they are singing and dancing proclaiming this is fantastic football. But they were. Proclaim a bad word against Hughes and his football and you were dancing with the devil. Suggest we didn't have a clue defensively and you were a Pulis loving cunt. A bit of that is correct.... We've been in freefall for 6 months +, welcome to the party.

To get back to the ops point - building a team around Allen. Fuck No - he's looked good (not brilliant mind you) so far but the first 6 months of last season Glenda was our best player and no one wanted to build a team around him Any team should be built from the back. Then move forwards through the spine of the team. And at the moment our defence is shocking so give them more protection. What needs to be done is to build a team around a set formation rather than a player.

Fuck me. I agree entirely. Allen ran around a lot and tried really hard. He was scarily reminiscent of dean whitehead. He was, that's entirely what it was like! Even his passing wasn't as good as it normally is. He did run around a lot but in the wrong areas It was like one of those days at work that you make yourself look busy but in reality you're doing fuck all productive. I call those weekdays.
