Bit older mate so my choices might look a bit ropey to todays kids
I don't know if it really was but this is the film I can best remember as my first one at cinema
These were three favs too; saw the Sinbad one in the 70s at the cinema on a rerelease, Jason & Gwangi were firm tv favourites. Every boy should see Jason & The Argonauts - its a rite of passage! I still love all that Ray Harryhausen fx work; its still better than the lower end of the CGI market today. Drove my mum mad when we had our first video recorder around '82, recorded the Sinbad film and watched it endlessly LOL. Happy Days x
Then I discovered the likes of Alien, Dawn Of The Dead, The Thing & Mad Max 2 - it was bye bye clay models but truthfully I can still watch all these movies today & enjoy them. I suppose the likes of Conan The Barbarian & Excalibur were just the Harryhausen movies for grown ups. I think most of us fellas are programmed to like scifi & fantasy.

Elaborating on the above
Exactly 3 mins is still an OMG moment after all these years - but when you were only 8 it was mindblowing. Real filmmaking, real craftsmanship.
Makes me quite emotional, remembering all this, my late mum & dad. I just thank God that I had a such good upbringing and that I had these moments, still out there in time somewhere. Till we meet again M&D x

Beat me to it with The Neverending Story and many of the Harryhausen films above. Tend to see them all once a year over Christmas.
More of a short film but The Snowman
Seeing as Gene Wilder has recently passed, this one too

Another ostensibly kids movie
But its as dark as they come, with still the best dragon fx ever put on film, even more so than Smaug. Great movie that deserved more recognition for sure

Jason and the Argonauts an absolute must.

Minions movie was funny this year Never saw an animated movie at the cinema when I was a kid, still not seen that many today bar Lord Of The Rings & Fire & Ice
Just never fancy anything like Shrek or Toy Story

Something for Supersimon
Apparently it took months of work - not like just someone tapping away on a keyboard today
And another classic of stop motion

Watership down and fox and the hound crippled me emotionally when i was a nipper. Went cinema with my lads watch walle and at the end was holding it back as my youngest was getting upset he was about 4 at the time, mrs was asking me whats up i was saying its gabe hes upset so its upsetting me. God im a lying bastard funnily though i laughed outloud several times at schindlers list go figure.

Not films but these are the three tv things that I remember most
Bought them all on DVD - and enjoyed watching them all again. The Changes & Children Of The Stones are still the finest examples of childrens scifi drama even today

I think they are remaking it, possibly live action??
This was pretty strong stuff too - very dark in places
One that I never got to see
And Disney trying their hand at a horror for younger viewers - quite good this
