Felt like we were on our way back for a while! Who could forget Stoke manager Joe Jordan setting the Potteries alight with his treble deadline-day capture of Micky Adams – yes, the same one who is now at Vale, Mark Walters and a returning Wayne Biggins in March 1994? Stokies turned up to the next game suitably gripped by transfer fever, which was instantly cured by a 2-0 home defeat to Crystal Palace. Ball for just slowly destroying us after mills had tried his best. But Jordan that twat took all the optimism and joy the macari era had given me as a teenage supporter and just removed it all through every pore in my being. The debacles of chic bates and kamara never really bothered me hell pulis and the binary was what it was as we were pretty much shit arou d all them periods. But joe fuckin bulldog faced no teethed jordan proceeded to fuck us completely , i know we lost stein as well as lou but fuck me i hated joe jordan for just killing my optimism and the final vestigial remains of my childhood supporting stoke.

Don't like them because they usually don't work out. Short-term solutions to long term problems generally don't. Shawcross is an obvious exception.

He was on a months loan initially. He scored once more a header in a 1-0 win v Derby. His debut was on motd v Ipswich. Anyone find it on YouTube?

As I said it seems like yesterday I was at the front of Boothen End for that diving header. I can still remember it vividly - too bad I can't remember what happened last week (on second thoughts, that's not so bad the way we're playing because I'm usually ready for the next game by about Tuesday!)

Jorg Sobiek.....it was like he got drunk and ended up at Stoke thinking "what the fuck am I doing here"?
Seriously, big Gerry and Ade - just what we needed at the times they arrived.

Kevin Russell. Back in the days when, unless you had seen his picture in the previous day's Sentinel, you could turn up for a match having no idea what your new signing looked like.
There was something instantly likeable about a bloke who looked like your grandad but ran around like demented child.
