Plenty: Ryan and Cameron were pretty much solid Arnie was the best player on the pitch We created a good few openings against a more than decent side Bardsley has matured and makes far fewer rash challenges Ramadam is going to be a thrilling footballer We only lost to a shit refereeing decision

Given did well. Arnie looking good. We will get better with players back and hopefully new signings. Ryan and Bards did well.

We battled and rallied in defence, I haven't seen that for ages.

The view from the top tier was good. The things Imbula did wrong can be sorted with good management. Crouch can now go back to being Plan B. Allen very good again. Geoff and Ryan looked fine. Surely Les can now see it's Diouf up top or not at all. Jon Walters only came on because it was Everton and we won't be playing at Goodison again this season. Everton will do much better this season and we should have had a point. It shouldn't be too difficult to work on not giving penalties away. Jack should be back next game.

It wasn't Ryan who gave the penalty away.

That's probably the last we've seen of Walters as an impact sub. Also we look much better going forward this season compared to last season, We're finally seeing some good movement by the forward players & midfielders & the difference is Joe Allen who isn't sticking to his position but running into spaces and supporting forward players. He's the key to us having a good season imo. We'll be better when Shaq is back because with Diouf playing as a winger, we were essentially playing from just one side.

Well, we might be bottom....
...but are only 8 points off top and 5 points off a Champions League place!

Worth a point today. Solid at the back. They wouldn't have scored but for the penalty. We should have equalised when Arnie squared it instead of shooting. Allen more energy and willing than anyone else. Plenty of positives, but need a striker to put the ball away.

Found an absolutely belting pub well off the beaten track, the locals gave us an Everton v Stoke programme from 1971 price 7p and I thought our captain had a blinder.

wearstoke80 makes a good point, whilst appreciating Arnie had good glimpses today all too often Everton's right back Holgate was clearly unsettling him and knocking him out of his stride. Thought he looked a very good right back.

Yeah I didn't think Arnie was any great shakes today.
Whelan had his best game in ages, Ryan was looking much more like his old self, Allen had a good first thirty minutes and Given looked confident.
Going forwards though we were poor (again).

We played Crouch (I hoped we wouldn't) and then compounded the mistake by bringing on Walters to replace him.
We left out Bojan and once again saw a very poor performance from Imbula in a midfield three. He must be dropped if he cannot come to grips with playing for the team and not himself.
Positives
Allen is a real gem Ryan and Cameron were pretty solid Arnie gave his all even if everything didn't come off Ramadan got more game time and looks promising Walters and Crouch will be back to the bench or maybe even one of them sold before Wednesday Given had a good game and was soooo unlucky with the peno Whelan looks more up to speed Bojan and Shaq showed their importance in their absence Hughes,Scholes, Carto and Coates know we need to spend big these next few days.

Barnsley are producing some good defenders & Everton are picking their prize assets off them. Stones was signed from Barnsley as was Holgate..

AD, agree about clean sheet from open play, for once but can we now score a league goal from open play please?!
We sank to the bottom with Palace's 92nd minute goal but I'm sure that the next two days are considered as working ones, with the transfer window nearing its end.
I'm hopeful of our bringing in two or three players and saying goodbye to the three or four no longer good enough at this level.
Fingers crossed.

It's good to see that Wolly will have to fight for his spot back. Competition for places is healthy, just need to make Imbula fight for his position and Diouf, Whelan and Pieters.
