Danny Wellbeck would be a similar option to Rodriguez. I’d prefer him but subject to any injury concerns, Rodriguez is a very good player. He’s seemingly always on the bench at Burnley so he’s clearly consistently fit for selection Welbeck would be an exciting signing. He's a year younger than Rodriguez, has played 42 times for England and has obviously spent a significant amount of his career playing for some top clubs. Rodriguez has always been a mid-to-lower jobbing Premier League player at best.

I think Welbeck will be staying in the top half of the Prem. He's still really good.
Haven't got a strong opinion about J-Rod.
Don't think it'd be terrible on a 1-yr deal because he wouldn't be the only attacker coming in. He's played 1000 minutes for Burnley this season and got on the pitch regularly
The key is not to get unduly ruffled by the first few links and first few signings, and see what kind of blend we end up with as a package come the end of August.

We’d be about 30 on any list of likely destinations for Wellbeck.
Any bottom half Premier league side would sign him.

There was a rumour circulating a week or so ago that Conor Coady will be coming here next season if we stay up. I have no concrete info.

There was a rumour circulating a week or so ago that Conor Coady will be coming here next season if we stay up. I have no concrete info. Only played 8 games for Leicester, presume he's been injured would have to be a loan given the money they paid for him and the wages he'll be in Possible suppose A scouser so maybe there is a connection?

There was a rumour circulating a week or so ago that Conor Coady will be coming here next season if we stay up. I have no concrete info. Always thought Coady was a woeful player - Souttar might be worth a punt, he was awful in the prem and has not featured for Leicester much this season either. Possible that no prem/top half championship sides will fancy him now - strikes me as a player that would happily just warm the bench and take his pay cheque though.

They said exactly the same thing about Ricardo Fuller who also had injury problems and that turned out OK. But Ric wasn't 35 when we signed him. No he was about 27 but the point I was trying to make was that he had a poor injury record as Southampton knew at the time. We were lucky to get him and lucky he stayed reasonably fit.

Same again would have to be on loan plus we'd have a season of Bayern insisting he can't playing a back 4 Either would be a coup, we are way down the pecking order now

I think Souttar coming back could be a distinct possibility, unless Rangers want him. Might have to be on loan if we did want him as they’ll want a chunk of their money back you’d think.

If the club show a bit of genuine ambition and sign a few flagship players who knows who could be tempted to come and join us - got to try and make ourselves an attractive proposition once again - easier said than done. Also, got to stay in this division first

Very good example however Rodriguez injury record casts a different light on things I get it - but- just who else could be available? How much money have we hemorrhaged on Wesley and Ennis and had the return of the square root of fuck all? The right deal would be OK with me. And Gayle

JRod would be decent for a year or two

We need to stop signing has beens - look how it’s worked out for us in recent years. Rodriguez is shite and any pace he did have is on the wane. Far better options out there for us this summer.

Think we need to wake up and smell the coffee, these kind of players are what we can afford these days. Or we can dip into League 1 or overseas and sign players under 30. I don’t think Rodriguez will come for low wages so not sure finance is the differentiator in this type of situation.
