After watching todays game, will it emphasise the issues most people have been stating for a while? Defensively we are so naïve and keep falling for the same sucker punches week in week out, from set pieces especially. We obviously need more pace through the middle at CB we were caught flat footed twice at the end. All this talk of a striker yet nobody plays the ball into Diouf anyway. There is an undoubted amount of ability in our midfield but we are always shooting ourselves in the foot early on and chasing games.

That's what i said coming out of the the ground. If there is any good to come out of it, it's the same old things and mistakes being repeated in games. Hopefully the more obvious it is, and pissed off the manager gets, the quicker something will be done in the next couple of weeks.

Potentially, yes.
Don't disagree with what you're saying. For me, a new (mobile?) DM and clinical striker are absolutely key.
CB too.
Plenty of potential in the squad, and not a lost cause like lots of the negative tools reckon we are.

Never a blessing to drop points though I see what the Op says
If management haven't seen the defensive issues already then I doubt today will make a jot of difference.
Still 11 days to get bodies in

They were just a much better team and if we had spent the money they had this season I would have expected a reverse scoreline , you can't race a mini against a Ferrari

I honestly don't think today will make any difference to the managers thinking. He's as much of a zealot as Pulis was.
If the Jones rumours are to be believed I'd have him as the holding midfield player. Get a centre half in and try for Trippier from Spurs.
A pacy centre forward is an absolute must.
Lots of work to do.

Still 11 days to get bodies in West brom have said they want 5 in. I want 6. A new back four, a forward and a winger with pace. If we had a winger with pace we wouldn't have been caught out offside 72 times today as he'd pick the ball up and run at them pushing them back. You can't be offside if you're running with the ball.

It's hard to tell - if Sparkys comments are anything to go by he doesn't have a lot of issues with what we are doing and those who are doing it - so probably no, today is just another home defeat end of story.

Not at all. We had to put up with that shower of shot in defence for half of last season and he as still neglected it at the start of this. Not signing a centre half and goalkeeper is criminal

He slated their second goal on really bad defending. I'll be amazed if that back line is anything near the same at the end of the month. At least 3 different players will be in it.

Stood watching then, reacted and went to the ball instead of marking a player in the box but hopefully today was only a blight, but looking forward. A player is needed and Jones at CDM/CB doesn't sound half bad after today.

It's only a blessing if we learn from it,first half we were poor, second half we were better without looking dangerous, bar the pen I cannot remember there keeper having to make a save of any note, our problems are the same now at home as they were last year.Too slow in the build up,no out and out winger,no pace in the middle of the the back four and no striker,so we haven't learned from last year so MH must think all is ok.

Both were dreadful and Whelan shouldn't of been knackered he barely ran half the match like Imbula. He was utterly shocking today and proves we need to spend now.

I realise hes no Aguero, but if we do manage to attract a striker are Arnie and co going to look out for him or just hit hopeful shots from 25 yards out like last week at boro?

Yes he as pace but does not now when to use it,he doesn't antisapate the ball going over the defender, when he does get forward he walks back so in a offside position,so we cannot move the ball forward.Blackburn got rid of him.

Lots of work to do. Spot on we have 2 parts of a very good midfield 3. Whelan upgrade is becoming a priority we need someone who can pass forward as well as being quicker around the pitch. Basically an Allen Clone. We also need A commanding CB A Quicker LB A striker in the true meaning of the word.

No, if anything a 4-1 defeat at home is just going to ruin the teams confidence...sparky already knows we need a defender and a striker etc
