The players who got us up are all heroes in my eyes but the sad fact is Pulis is going to have to replace many of them for us to survive, and that means letting some of them go. I think I'd only be annoyed if we lost Lawrence, Fuller or Shawcross, and I'm not even sure any of them will be good enough? "There really is no sentimentality in the hardest league in the world. " Got to agree with that. I'm pretty sure Fuller won't be, no goals in 16 games says so, however Lawrence and Shawcross especially have shown that they have real quality to play at a higher level. I believe that Mama has a better chance of succeeding at prem level than Fuller. Because Fuller just can't lounge around like he does in the championship as well.

I'm amazed that anyone thinks we could survive in the Premiership with Mama up front. Fair play he's a nice guy and he did a great job for us this season but imagine if a lower table Prem team came in for him (West Ham, Bolton etc) - we would laugh our arses off at them. Cardiff know that he's not good enough and that we would have to replace him and that's why they have targetted him.

No goals in 16 games says very little. He may just have been on crap form at the time, or maybe he was brilliant, constantly setting up team mates but just failing to find the net. For such few games I wouldn't judge anything based on that.
But if we sell him and replace him with a 20 goals a season wonder kid, we probably won't really care that we didn't find out?
Just as he was when he sold our captain to Watford, Pulis will have to be ruthless.

Please, please let this be true (& come to fruition)...
I am prepared for a certain degree of embarassment next season, but to even contemplate that there is a chance that we could be lining up in the Prem with Sidibe up front sends shivers down my spine.

He's good to have on the bench in my opinion Gonzo, he's a big lad with a bit of pace that would cause a few defenders problems!

What price would we sell our Premiership striker for? 1,5-2m?

Just as he was when he sold our captain to Watford, Pulis will have to be ruthless. Nail on head, Para. The gulf between the Championship and Premier League is huge. We've got to be honest and admit that the majority of our players just aren't good enough to keep us in the Premier League. Some players who we may love to bits will have to be sold. We simply cannot afford to rely on a striker who can't score goals, despite what else he may bring to the team. There may well be a place for Sidibe in the squad purely for his hold-up play, but that can only happen if we have one or two out and out goalscorers, and I'm not convinced Fuller can step up either.

ke, I wouldn't have Ashton in place of Mama - but I'd certainly have him in my squad possibly in place of Fuller.
That isn't to say that I rate Mama higher than Fuller or Ashton but he does fulfill a hold up/target role that neither Ashton nor Fuller can play. I hope we get a replacement for Mama but I'd still keep him as a squad player.

Mama must stay. Regardless of his goals record, he has been invaluable to us this season and I have a feeling he might just shock a few next season, us included.

It’s the harsh reality of football, a lot will depend on what kind of money is being offered and whether the manager seriously believes he can find decent players who can do a similar job especially away from home. I think a few of those who have played a part in getting us to the Premiership may not be with us come the beginning of next season, that’s football and with our sights now set on higher standards of players some favourites are more than likely to feel the axe.

Mama = god
got more stick than most last season but still was one of our most important players. People say he's crap but these are the mostly the same people who said Ameobi would be better fact is Mama does his job every week and does it for the most part well.

Sidibe marks the difference between life in the Championship and life /survival in the Premiership.
Pulis will have to part company with Sidibe at some stage and a suitable GOALSCORING replacement found.
Sidibe has fulfilled his usefull purpose and it is now time to move on...
Qoute Cardiff £ 1MILLION but snap their hand off if an offer of anything above £100,000 comes in.

To be fair to Mama, although he's had a couple of "comedy moments" in front of goal, how many chances does he actually get? And how does the ratio of goals: chances stack up against a "proper" striker?
We saw when Ade left that Gifton was capable of getting goals, but had been restricted by the supporting role he played. Mama has been asked to play that same role.
I'm not saying Mama's a great striker, or even that he's anywhere near good enough for the Prem, just that it's unfair to judge him on goals scored alone. On the rare occasions he gets a chance, he's just as likely to score a great goal as he is to blast it over the bar from two yards!

Mama is vastly underrated...I would be very surprised if Pulis was too quick to show him the door. He brought in Ameobi from the Prem to show Mama the way and what happened...
I listed the players in the squad with the control neccessary to play in the Prem and Mama was amongst a list of only 7!

dexter97...It still doesn't alter the fact that he's not good enough. Possibly not, and if anything exposed him at the highest level it was the Cup of Nations. My point is simply (and I realise how this sounds) that his goalscoring record under TP is not necessarily a reflection of his ability to score goals. He almost made double-figures under The Dutch Clown! ;D

No way must Mama be sold, and i doubt that he would be too.
Would love to see some of these Premiership defences attempting to get the ball from a very strong and Powerful Mama.
Mama will make sure "make no doubt about it" that those Premiership defences have being in a game allright. Go oarnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn Mama, and go on Pulis give Mama a long contract because he's gonna be instrumental on our time spent in the top flight, just as much as he was in the Championship.
MAMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. MAMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.

I would hazard a guess that Fuller's goals per shots ratio is as bad as Mama's.
I really think if we're being honest Fuller is the weak link. At the same time I would sign two new strikers and play Fuller off the bench. It would ruin the harmony of the squad to sell first-teamers like Mama and Ric.

Too many Stoke fans are still drunk from all the celebrations, if anyone thinks Mama is going to cut it in the premiership well!!
He has done his job this season, he doesn't have the quickness of mind or talent to be a handfull next season to be an asset for us.
Over the years I have seen some shite posted on the Oatcake site but "I would rather have Mama over Ashton" must surely be the most piss taking post or the comment of a deluded man !

Fornside, I'm struggling with your comment "but he does fulfill a hold up/target role that neither Ashton nor Fuller can play" when it's clear, if you have watched Deano over the years, that is exactly his role. Hold the ball, move it out (left or right) and then attack the goal for the subsequent cross. Deano playing alongside Fuller would be a formidable attack pairing. He's probably not interested, in Stoke, given that he's on the verge of breaking back into the England squad. Note:- Good to see a good old-fashioned debate about football on a football board!

I dont reckon he will leave for cardiff but if a championship team makes a bid of over 1.5mil then im sure TP is bound to accwpt it....He wont leave for cardiff though cos like ti says he used to play for Swansea and everyone would hate him!!!
