If we don't go for Keane and I could see Burnley not wanting to let one of their best players leave, then who do we go for as a CB?

If it's a homegrown defender which most people indicate it will be then I'd like either Lewis Dunk from Brighton or the Wolves lad Kortney Hause with a swoop for Iorfa at the same time (young right back). Alternatively there is Phil Jones I'd be tempted with and he can play a few positions and then the young lad at reading...cooper who we were linked with.

Lees at Sheff Weds seems to be another Championship defender getting a mention with the Premier League if we're prioritising a home-grown one.
The cupboard doesn't seem to be full of British options.

I like the look of Ben Mee at Burnley too, looks a good blood and thunder defender. Lewis Dunk is a good shout, good player.

However, I'd have him all day long to play as a defensive midfielder.

Is lescott really as bad as made out, if we're struggling think we could do worse on a short deal, experienced, left footed and could work with shawcross?
Or
Scott dann. Phil Jones is a good shout but can't see morhi

Jason denayer is a good one, quick, strong and did well in loan deals at Celtic & galatasary. Loan or permanent

Jamaal Lascelles. Very good player and he's relatively young.

Lacaselles from Newcastle, although they will probably put a £25m price tag on him!

Can't see anyone having much luck at all prising anyone that they want to keep out of Newcastle this summer. And he seems to have been made captain as well.
They seem to be really backing Rafa and running it as almost a Prem club, certainly for this first year.

Ryan Sweeney....Wimbledon. Age 19. He's just like Shawcross when he first came on loan from Utd.

Papy Djilobodji of Chelsea.... good defender who may be down the order. One of the strangest transfers in modern times, him joining Chelsea. Neither was he any good, full of potential (already 27) or even on form. French Guardian journo Philippe Auclair was absolutely mystified by the move. If paper talk is to be believed, which it's usually not, Jose is willing to let The Shit's breakthrough defenders from the last couple of years leave. I'd take Fosu-Mensah and have a look at Blackett and Borthwick-Jackson.

I think Keane would develop his game excellently alongside Shawcross in particular. He would alongside Morgan or Huth too.

We wont sign a centre half imo If the manager persists with three at the back and two out-and-out wing backs, we'll definitely need to buy a centre half.

We wont sign a centre half imo How much would you like to bet on that? I think we need one, but just have this hunch that we wont, but I wouldnt like to bet on it. It needs to be a standout defender too if we sign one, no point signing another run of the mill type, but who out there is there? Keane maybe, but beyond that im not sure, for me it needs 15m to be spent on one decent one. If he thinks Shawcross is fit enough and he goes back to a back 4, I think he will think we have enough with Shawcross + 1 of Cameron, Wolly, Muniesa and Wilson, with the other 2 as back ups

The Times reckon Man City will be willing to let Mangala go out on loan. Anyone else think he would be worth a look? We'd be able to guarantee him a lot of football & we could probably stretch to cover most of/all his wages.

How they paid £42m for him is beyond belief.
