Biggest plus of the day was going to a match in shorts and T-shirt. Rare occasions! Impressed with ngoy, first time I seen him play. Bojan, Adam and Diouf played well too.

FFS whats wrong with some people, bet it gives the lad a right lift hearing it....Anyone know the sat nav settings for Vale park, if so send em to cockrocky immediately... As I've said, why do we have use other clubs songs? I was there singing his name when he made his debut against Portsmouth, and it wasn't that wank Spurs song. [/quotel] Fans have been singing that "wank spurs song" for years.I can Remember Everton singing it for Rooney, probably was sung 100 times before that at other clubs.

A decent preseason game against a solid organised side. We created chances and hit the woodwork 2 or 3 times. PNE also had a couple of half chances.
First half 3:5:1:1 we struggled slightly with shape both Pieters and Johnson not excelling going forward. Arnie had some good touches and we played ok but a deflection found us 1-0 down Shawx had a steady 45 mins.
Second half back to 4:2:3:1 we looked better for 20 mins and equalised and should have scored more Crouch missed two easy chances. The late subs took time to settle in but Lycenge played well and N goy had a good touch and several powerful runs, unlucky not to win it but for a great save.
PNE gave us a good workout. Got a sun top up in the PNE end and enjoyed the good humoured Stokies singing to try and make an atmosphere.

N'Goy's performance had to be the highlight of the afternoon. Also was good to see some good work by Bojan - that shot first minutes of 2nd half was electric! N'Goy was certainly impressive. Thought Charlie worked hard as well, despite some wayward touches at times.

Adam has stood out as one of our best players in these 2 friendlies, ive never understood why people want to "fuck him off"

Nice well-taken goal. I think there's a good chance he'll prove himself this season.

That's the sort of ball he needs, he does miss goals but if we play enough balls through, he will get goals.

That first half & 3:5:2 was, to put it mildly, a bag of wank.
If Eric is a PL wing back, I'm a Dutchman (you saw what I did there). GJ also gave a display of petulance not seen seen since King Ric sat on his arris and slapped his hands in the mud like a two year old after missing a sitter in the C'ship there. This did nothing to help him (GJ) impersonate a PL wing back either. Gianni was class. Joselu was tosselu tbh.
They scored a scrawny deflection but, tbf, were the sharper / better side, with a definite whiff of 'still on the beach' hanging over ours at times.
Sparky must have kicked a few tea cups in the break as we started a lot better from the off. As per posts above, Crouchy should have scored one for sure and possibly two.
When Diouffer hits 'em, they stay hit and his goal beat Linngard for sheer pace. Our little wizard smacked one off their left hand post, which would have been goal of the game and (e)N'joy showed some real potential & looked almost Bolaise - ish at times.
Not bad; shudda / cudda tonked 'em, but p...leeeaaasssee MLH, none of that wing back nonsense when we're playing for real, or at least get in about 6 hrs practise at it every day from now to kick off.

My thoughts on yesterday.
Encouraging overall -playing a team further on in their preparation it was a good workout for our lads
first the bad / dodgy
1) the formation 3-5-2 I just dont like it -with our current players it leaves us all one sided -absolutely nothing on the right for the entire first half
2) Joselu - the least you expect from your centre forward is the ball to stick occasionally - it hardly did once - very, very disappointing on this pretty pathetic first half showing. And the major question mark still hangs over him -- good enough ??? - I'm no too sure - lacks the ability, strength and determination to hold the ball up in our league system.
3) Plainly, Ryan has still got a real problem - spraying delightful 40 -50 yards passes one minute -deliberately stepping out of tackles the other. last we saw of him stretching his back walking across the pitch just before the second half started - WE MUST GET NEW COVER FOR HIM
4) How easily the PNE number 7 did us for simple raw pace first half - and, down our supposedly stronger side too. Eric just let him run and run - into our penatly box -resulted in the goal we conceded
5) We remain Absolutely fucking rubbish at free kicks and set pieces - unforgivable, this aspect and needs some serious work and some serious bollockings - our management team too THIS NEEDS SORTING OUT . (we're not even amateur at this aspect of the game, let alone professional)
I suppose all the aspects above can be fixed but our management need to take action now
the Good
5) Bojan fully fit - sharp and raring to go - much like his old self - ran the game until taken off after about 55 minutes beat three men and
belted a shot against the post start of second half that nearly uprooted the bloody thing - a top, top player returns
6) Peter Crouch and Diouf BOTH offering real focal points, a real goal threat that was unseen first half - (some body said Crouch missed
two easy chances last nite -( UTTER BOLLOCKS) and both still offer much to us at the top level -absolutely crazy to think of replacing either
7) Jacks back -Englands number one - pure and simple
8) encouraged by Bards and Johnsons play - both will do well for us next season
9) Arnie - love this player a first half ,full of tricks and neat passing - some really cool stuff -just not quite coming off - plainly, Arnie and Bojan are already on a
mental wavelength far exceeding anything we've seen for years
10) substitutions stifled our play but second half you could see a real goal threat and some of the youngsters looked more than decent (Ngoy was it?) standing out
11) Imbula looks like he could just stroll through the entire opposition at any moment - plainly, so far within himself it was not true.
12) Deepdale - another one of those places - lovely ground - wide concourses - easy access - easy to find - easy to park and a very civilized place to go and
watch association football
I hope they do well next season
Summary - encouraging - you can see the thinking behind our coaches arranging these pre-season friendlies against championship sides further on in their pre season preparation. Our players could not slack for a second and, a few spicy challenges showed both teams were serious about the outcome.
lastly Diouf IS our best striker by some margin - why not play him up front as our number nine from the start ????

Tony.
I thought Shawx played ok. I was sat the stand to the left of Stoke fans and after 15 mins he read the play well and attacked the ball when it was needed. He and Muniesa had a battle with 14 Garher and 10 Beckford whom were jumped into you and grabbed you to try and win free kicks and Shawx was avoiding getting an elbow etc for a challenge.
As for Crouch the two easy headers he could when match fit scored easily by placing with a bit of power. He put himself about and 45 mins will do him well and an option for plan C next season.

Certainly a big improvement on Burton , didn't enjoy the first half too much , one decent move when we hit the post but otherwise just passing to get nowhere .
Second half much better , whatever people may think of Diouf defenders know he is on the pitch and a handful unlike Joselu and he does get his share of chances , the more he plays the more he will score . Crouch too has value whenever we switch to a proper 4-4-2
Bojan seemed to enjoy the freedom whilst he was still on .
Also agree with promise of Ngoy looked a useful prospect .

Lancs red
appreciate your comments about Ryan though -yes PNE forwards were trying to buy free kicks all the time but, it was on the ground first half -a couple of PNE simply ran past him ! (coming in from their left hand side )- with the the ball as he failed to do the simple lunge / ground block to intercept.
Ryan would just would not do the obvious stretch at all
a 'dead give away' the lads still got a real problem with his back = sorry to say this but -how it looked to me
Im sorry - but we got to shift out a centre half in this window and get a much better one in
Id lose Marc Wilson and get someone right sided in -I really would
