Playing a back 3 that are not renowned for their distribution, i hope he isn't seriously contemplating this formation going forward If the experiment fails, that won't be the reason. I think all three can pass a ball, possibly their strongest attribute. These are fitness focused affairs, I just think it's a formation he can whip out now and again, or switch to to finish stalemate games. It's a good thing he's rehearsing it while it doesn't really matter.

What's with this 3 at the back bollocks? Fuck it off already. Johnson doesn't really seem to get the wing 'back' bit of it. He's not even been in the TV picture once when they've attacked down the left, he's been so far forward.

How have we set up? ----------------Butland---------------- -------Shawcross Wollschied Muniesa----- --Johnson ---- Imbula Adam ----- Pieters -----------Bojan Joselu Arnautovic----------- What's Arnie's role in this? ? Listening on RStoke, enjoying Smudger's co-commentary. Can't figure out how the attack is set up? I'm watching a stream and I haven't been able to work out yet what specific positions Arnie, Bojan and Joselu are playing in. Change of personnel now no doubt, but did you suss it Paul?

Don't get me wrong, i'm all for a bit of change, just so far they've strolled behind our back line for fun, it's only a preseason game but just imagine Aguero, Silva, De Bruyne and Sterling running at that back 3, no matter their fitness levels, Wolly is not catching Parkin in a foot race, let alone Aguero

When I saw i Hughesy and Bowen doing the Wales games I wondered what the odds were they would have a brainwave about 3-5-2. A couple of weeks later and we've got a bid in for Joe Allen and for the 2nd game in a row are lining up as 3-5-2.

Because having 3 years of watching him he's never struck me as a wing back. And where's Arnie playing?

According to Signal radio we're playing 5 at the back to tighten things up. The problem is that we don't have the players to play that, but more importantly, it leaves us getting overrun in midfield, especially with Bojan and Imbula in the middle who aren't exactly enforcers are they

I didn't say it would work. Arnie in the Bale role with Bojan/Shaqiri in the Ramsey position. Berhanio a poor mans Ribson-Kanu.

Arnie up front? Jesus wept. 4-2-3-1 now, with N'Goye and Diouf either side of Bojan. Not ideal but still better than 3 at the back and both are rapid and as we see Mame scores goals. I'd be well happy with a season of Mame up front.
