To me they look like they are quietly adding some class players, I thought Negredo was absolutely fantastic when he was in the Premier League with Man City if they pull that deal off and he's still got a fraction of what he had at Man City I think he'll do well. Victor Valdes as well, had a bit of a slump in his career since leaving Barca for sure but the quality is still there you'd imagine if Karanka can find it.

Karanka won't be happy until the Boros quad is almost entirely Spanish or South American (Brazilians excluded).
He did not want Downing or Rhodes at the club, but was overruled by Steve Gibson. He walked out on the club once after going into meltdown following a 1-0 defeat at lowly Rotherham but was persuaded to return for the run-in when he showed a very fragile temperament as the team scraped a last-minute win at rock-bottom Bolton followed by four nerve-ridden draws.
Boro could be brilliant or looking for a new manager by Christmas.

I've heard they're also after Raul, Puyol and David villa.
Better get my Middlesbrough premier league champions scalf.

I'm very keen to see Jordan Rhodes. He's banged goals in at every level...... except the Prem. People say he's too slow. Here's his chance.

Negredo almost single handedly cost Neville his job last year. If he wasn't being a fat useless lump he was missing easy chances.
If boro sign subotic for 9 million then I'll start feeling jealous.

Their signings so far aren't as impressive as some people think

Their signings so far aren't as impressive as some people think Negredo couldn't get in a poor Valencia side last season.

Apart from his very fragile personality, Karanka is ultra-defensive (nearly cost Boro promotion last season) and often struggled for goals.
However, he has one big plus - gets on very well with Mourinho so might get a few Manchester United "favours".

Middlesbrough will not survive. I think this could be the season where the three club's that have come up go straight back down. Burnley, Boro and Hull for the drop for me.

Oddly I'm quite confident about our visit there on the opening day.
If we were at home I'd be far less confident but I think going there might suit us.
Cue a 4-0 thumping!!

I'm undecided as to how things will pan out for Middlesbrough. When Watford came up and signed all those multi-national players, I thought they'd be a banker to struggle to even pick up a point and finish 20th.
Surely Middlesbrough are likely to do the same?

Boro did not concede more than one in any home league match last season....best team at holding on to 1-0 leads.
I'm sure Karanka will be ultra-cautious even as the home team. I'd wager he'd settle for a 0-0 draw in the opener against Stoke while hoping to sneak a 1-0 win.
I reckon he is the sort of manager who'd be happier to win 1-0 than 3-1 or 4-2.
