Mu thoughts too Poor Ryan, just the worst luck for agreat guy. Of all the positions in a team that need continuity, CB (not to mention skipper) is the biggest, it wasn't just his back that mean he strugled coming back too soon last season, if you're in the middle of everything always you just can't get straight back in the beat. Grown-up thought is, Sparky and Sir Peter don;t take risks, splash the cash on a v v strong CB now please, we'll be lost without one. Either to partner Ryan or deputise for sustained perdios of time. Management has procrastinated on this for over 18 months. It's time to shit or get off the pot, NOW. Either he's going to be fit or he's not. All indications are that it's the latter. This is no time for sentimentality. They didn't procrastinate at all. They nailed their colours firmly to the mast and decided he is going to be OK, hence the new contract. Now it appears he's not over it - like I said at the time, it was done too quickly. I think their are big issues at the club with recruitment and decision making.

How much influence he would have had with the Shawcross deal is anyones guess. I've just got a downer on the club - some people think we do OK, but I believe we could do a whole lot better.

Panic....we're doomed I tell thee doomed! What bollocks. Our captain who's key to us is showing more signs of being made of glass with a problem he's had now for 18 months. And a problem that appears to be not getting better. This is a concern because without him we look a different side and it has to be mitigated for. When Mark Hughes panics I will worry, I cerainly wont worry when its people like you!

Yeah because we haven't got any at all. We had players injured last season and struggled. We could do with at least 2 centre backs coming in, a winger, a decent striker and a back up goalkeeper incase Jack gets injured again. We do need those players you call for,but one centre half would be fine by me. Your statement made it sound like we have no good players though and comes across as knicker wetting due to a defeat in a meaningless friendly.

I just don't see Wollscheid as the second coming of John Clarke like others do and I'd be massively shocked if we signed two top class centre halves when Hughes obviously thinks like with me.

Yeah because we haven't got any at all. We've got loads. But most play in virtually the same fucking position!!! Do they? I'm struggling to believe that one to be honest,I think for the system our manager wants to play we are quite well balanced. Another centre half,a genuine wide man and a centre forward perhaps, minus a horrendous injury list and we'd be bob on.

What's wrong with Cameron and Wilson against Man citeh? Is that sarcasm/sadism? I think Cameron would do a job, but agreed, not ideal. We might get a kicking.

Wollscheid was superb for the majority of last season, when Shawcross was absent early doors he held together a defence that was fairly solid to be fair. It wasn't until the latter half of the season that our defensive record started to stutter,in my opinion this was in tandem with our horrific list of injuries. You wouldn't trust any manager to be fair Bayern on anything because in your mind only you know everything about the game

I trust Hughes in general but that waned massively last season as it was like having TP back. We need to improve the style and actually make home games worth going to again. I think he'll do it but he needs to cut his losses with the likes of Cameron, Wilson and Wollscheid. We only need one of them really. They can't be relied upon to not make daft errors and cost us. First team wise I think we need 3 signings but the squad has too many players that just 'do a job'. If we keep Arnie, Sobhy looks like just the sort of signing that ups the level of the squad already as he's another specialist for a specialist area and we miss that.

It might just be nowt much. An inevitable twinge due to playing with his new back. During his years of playing through his troublesome back he will have adjusted his posture to compensate for the discomfort. There will be twinges during the rehabilitation. I'm confident they're protecting him etc appropriately, why risk a flare up in a run out> In the West Ham game he looked back to his brilliant best with his rangy run. Perhaps a season of the Ledley King treatment, rest him in the Cups etc.
I've always thought Wollscheid was brought {annd then bought} in to cover Ryan's abscences, don't rate them yet as a partnership particularly, but Wolfy as back up is still fine by me.

Yes he does but he was far from awful for the first half of last season. I'd have no problem starting the season with Ryan and Wollscheid as our first choice pairing at the back, and if Ryan is going to continue to struggle then I'd also have no problem seeing Wollscheid alongside another top class signing. A club in our position isn't going to have four top class centre halves on it's books however much you and others think it should have.

Now I'm no doom and gloom merchant but...
This is a problem. In fact it's a mons fucking trocity of a problem.
We saw last season what life without Ryan could be like ..and it's not pretty. So we need a like for like replacement (or as close as damn it )and we need him quick!
Failing will be criminal negligence from all concerned.
It's not like we are going to turn into Keegan s Newcastle overnight. ..

Then he will have to target the next level after the next level then. H We are????? What's the fucking problem then? It wasn't long ago according to some on here that where we have been finishing over the past few seasons is the best we could ever hope for with a decent cup run. Still not good enough for some on here who find it quite easy to move the goalposts. H
