I stopped reading them in the late 90s but I've gotten back into them thanks to getting the Mega-Collection recently.

Loved 2000AD and the other one, Starlord (which was where Strontium Dog originated)before they merged into just 2000AD in 1978.
My mum & dad had a newsagents when I was a kid so I got to read all the comics foc. They always came in a day or two before they were delivered to the customer so I had a nice little window. Big childhood memories.
Loved most of the stories; not just Dredd but Rogue Trooper, Strontium Dog, Slaine and the utterly twisted and 'out there' Nemesis The Warlock.
All of the above would make excellent movies/tv shows. Rogue Trooper would make a really gritty show; the future war scenes in the Terminator franchise always reminded me of it. Nemesis, you would need some cutting edge CGI just to bring the title character to life.
I'm hoping we still get a Dredd sequel, I don't think there is anything that I would like to see more come to the screen than the four dark judges! Always thought Judge Fear was the most disturbing. Its utterly unfathomable that it's not yet happened. I'm convinced Clive Barker somewhat borrowed them for the cenobites in Hellraiser.

These are the law They weren't the only Thrash band to embrace the Dredd universe; here's a tasty little ode to the Dark Judges
WARNING!! It's a lot heavier than Anthrax

I've thought the same about the Cenobites mate- and a Dredd sequel with the Dark Judges would be brilliant if done correctly. Karl Urban has said he'd love to do a sequel, or maybe a mini-series but it's all speculation so far. What did you think of the Stallone film by the way?

Its all about money isn't it, its looking more hopeful though. I just wonder if the dark judges wouldn't be too far out, seeing as the 1st movie is fairly grounded? I suspect they would be better in a third movie with the 2nd just slightly escalating the more fantastic elements from the first film. But I wouldn't like to see that gamble - I want to see them in the 2nd movie, end of!
The Tv series sounds a good way to go. When you look at some of the dross that's out there, it should happen.
On the Stallone film, I really don't think its that bad at all!! Maybe not a classic but just like Waterworld its more than watchable. If people think they are bad movies, they obv haven't tuned in to the SyFy channel and watched their home grown movies or anything made by The Asylum!! The Urban Dredd is better but the Stallone film is far from a disgrace. Take away Rob Schneider and it instantly gains an extra star!!

My only gripe with the 2012 reboot is that it didn't feel like a mega-city, more a rundown urban sprawl that could have been anywhere. Although they did a good job with the inside of the 'block'. Stallone got Dredd's look spot on, and they nailed the look of MC1 in the original film, and there were more nods to the strip's characters and mythology in that version. A Cursed Earth trek would make a good film as long as it wasn't just a Mad Max rehash.

Youre right on the 1995 movie, it did actually get a lot of things right. I liked the block war scenes.
And I agree, it would be hard not to draw comparisons with Fury Road if they went Cursed Earth
Just think though they could include Satanus.. Attachment Deleted

Compare the two
To be fair, the Stallone film looks pretty decent from the trailer, fx still hold up well Danny Cannon got the directing gig after the impression he made with the Harvey Keitel starring Young Americans. I can only find this Italian language trailer but I have the film on DVD. Its honestly one of the best British urban thrillers Ive ever seen. Its stylish, violent, great performances - just a really cool movie that never seems to surface on tv. Its well worth a punt on it from Amazon. Just the depiction of London and the way it taps into the early 90s vibe. Keitel is a mean sonofabitch, even though he's on the right side of the law.
