I know it's hypothetical That team would have beat Iceland through determination. Leicester win the league with players are nothing but want to win players . Why then did Roy not pick Drinkwater- determind player and even Noble -point to prove. Sterling out of form and Henderson - wasnt ready after injury.

I believe 11 players from the Championship would have beaten Iceland, they would have shown more passion and desire anyway, so there is no reason why 11 Premiership players who don't play for the "top" clubs, could not do a better job.

This passion and desire thing is a total red herring. Do you really believe that they couldn't give a shit?

Barkley, Bertrand and Kane..... Erm ok... Kane was shite at the euros and that wasn't down to anyone but himself. He tried that shit free kick at least three times and skied each one, I'd take Deeney over him.

A decent manager could pick 11 players from the Championship who could beat the disjointed lot we have had the misfortune to endure this summer.

This passion and desire thing is a total red herring. Do you really believe that they couldn't give a shit? Perhaps not that they "don't give a shit" but there appeared to be a distinct and obvious (to me at any rate) lack of spirit, desire and urgency in the way they played - almost an arrogance and fear of looking uncool if they were to go a bit harem-scarem, especially when it was slipping away. I agree that it's not the be-all and end-all and technical ability is of course crucial but they played a lot of the games like a bunch of strangers who were not enjoying it one little bit. So the point about a team devoid of the big time Charlies makes some sense in that they would perhaps not have the big-time-Charlie attitude or baggage holding them back and be allowed to more freely express themselves a la Wales. Hodgson is completely and utterly to blame though (and the FA for not sacking him after the WC) and instead of poncing about on the Seine on his day off (WTF?) he should have taken the team to the Somme to see what a fight for your country is really all about.....
