Did you eat all the pies? If so, We can help. I'm helping to run a new league at Stoke's Powerleague from Friday 15th July called MAN v FAT Football. The idea is that the league table is based on points won but also pounds lost. Players are weighed before every game and supported to lose weight through the week. Teams compete every Friday to lose weight and score goals. The scheme has been running in Birmingham since January and 95% of players lose weight, with the average weight loss over 14 weeks being just under 2 stone. If you love football but hate being fat then sign up on your own or in a team. There's 80 places and it's first-come-first-served. It's £9.99 to register as a player and £6 per week, which is cheap as chips - baked vegetable chips. Full details and sign up form are here - www.manvfat.com/football So who's up for it? * admin hope this is ok, if you could pin for a while that would be amazing.

I am so in for this and as long as no one ever looks at my signature then no one will see the bias implicit in that statement.

Yeah, I was gonna do this but you have to pay by direct debit, can't be arsed with that.

Yeah, I was gonna do this but you have to pay by direct debit, can't be arsed with that. We all know what happens in a game of 5aside down the power league, people forget to bring their change. Keeps it clean and also an added motivator. You can pay for the full season upfront should you wish. It's a great setup and cheaper than the cost of your own health ! After being on MVF for a short while, I've dropped 2.5stone - still not there yet, but without this kind of support, I'd have kept ballooning. And I'm not standing there counting £6 out for 80 blokes 😂😂

Joined up,and looking forward to making a start. Looks a great idea, and just the motivation to get me back on the fitness trail. As a driving instructor I spend all day sat down and apart from playing golf once a week and refereeing on a Saturday in the football season I find it hard to find time to do any exercise. It's in my diary so there's no excuse now.

Thanks mate, Andrew and the team have worked hard on this, and the results in Birmingham show this !
Hopefully I can help the Stoke lads get the same results, and keep improving my own results !

Have you thought about contacting the club to see if they are willing to make even the smallest gesture? Maybe even offer to pay for the first 50 applicants, a visit from a couple of the players, water bottles? I think if it was pitched right to them they would be willing to make some token gesture.

This sounds a great idea. When you say players are "supported to lose weight through the week", can I ask what kind of extra support is offered on top of offering the chance to play footy?

I know what you mean I've been there and done it, lost a couple of stone when I was diagnosed type2 diabetic. Unfortunately I reverted to type and put it all back on and a bit more on top. I've come to the conclusion that you just are what you are.
