I would rather play Albo than Norn Iron. So would I, im working in Belfast again this weekend. So why the fuck is Woy pissing about resting players for Slovakia. Lets make sure we beat them, win the group and then get Albania and rest a couple against them if necessary. They're far weaker than Slovakia. PS mind you those FIFA rankings are shite. Austria are above England

What a crock it all is. 36 matches to get rid of 8 teams. Then mostly one sided match ups in the first knockout round. I'm watching it all as I always do, but it's a bloated pile of pointlessness and no mistake. All after a bloated qualifying campaign that eats into our season.
I look forward to the first 48 team World Cup. That might just be it for me. 12 groups of 4 with 48 games just to see who gets in the round of 32...
International football has the potential to be something slightly different, with less money at stake for players, and a freer, more attacking mentality which could result. But UEFA and FIFA (with TV) are just killing it with fixture overloads. Same true for club game in European competitions.
It seems weird to think that in a non tournament year in the 70s, say, there might only be 4 or 5 games shown live on TV. No wonder we loved the Cup Final!

Still too early to call percentages surely as it depends on that final 3rd place table. We still have a 47% chance of playing either Albania or one from Czech/Turkey/Croatia and a 6% chance of playing one from Germany/Poland/NI.
The tweet is based on England topping the group & Albania topping the 3rd placed group so big iffs and both have a big percentage chance of not happening too!!

Change of perspective. AVOID PORTUGAL! ! I celebrated like a nut with the Austrians in the Paris fanzone when he missed the pen - now I'm wishing he'd have buried it.

To be fair, it's hardly Hodgson's fault that Portugal have been really shit in an easier group than ours, if we do indeed have to play them.

It is not the next game we have blown - two extra days' rest and a mediocre opponent whoever it is - is the next one where France lie in wait to knock us out rather than, most probably, the team who finished top in Portugal's group. Still, we are clearly not good enough to win the whole thing, so it just becomes a question of how soon we go home, I guess.

We should beat every team in that group so I don't really care who we draw.

Whatever happens and whatever happens thereafter - I would really really like Iceland to finish above Portugal and to qualify at Ronaldo's expense.
It would be the greatest irony!

The 2 halves of the draw seem pretty unbalanced now with Spain dropping into England's half as well.
Could be looking at:
Switzerland-Poland Italy-Spain Croatia-Austria Germany-Slovakia Wales-Turkey England-Hungary Portugal-Belgium France-Northern Ireland

Roy's fucked us big style. Q-Fs of: Poland-Croatia Belgium-Turkey Spain-Germany England-France Can certainly see one of Croatia/Belgium in the final now. It's opened up big style in that half of the draw - and it could've been us

I genuinely believe playing a Spain, France or Germany would suit us more than playing as we've seen a Russia, Wales or Slovakia as we will be able to attack more on the break. Whether the defence can soak up the pressure is another matter but I think we can score goals against the big boys.
Plus lets face it, going into this tournament is we ever had any aspirations of winning the thing we would have to play and beat the big boys at some point and the quarter finals before this happens isn't bad going looking at the potential draws for the second round of Portugal vs Belgium and Italy vs Spain.
Keep the faith!
