Was that Geoff Pearson, Dave ? If so, he's reliable, sensible and informed. Malcolm, I trust the FSF will continue to challenge the media about their reporting of these incidents? Will the FA be pressured into confronting UEFA over their disgraceful comments about England fans? Will the FA be pressured in relation to our participation in the Russia world cup? We had Russian criminals trying to murder English fans in some cases and look at the reports in their media. The government, FA and our media will not stick up for the England fans. What has happened cannot be brushed under the carpet. Frankly I'd be happy for our team to withdraw from this tournament and the next two world cups All very good points/questions which we discuss fully when it's all over. At the moment, I am trying not to ring Kevin and the fans embassy team in France because they have more than enough to do dealing with the situation on the ground and liaising with the authorities, without having to deal with me as well. I was quite pleased with the statement I saw from Mark Roberts, the British police lead there about the Russian attacks on England fans. He's a considerable improvement on some of his predecessors in understanding the situation and not just adopting stereotypes about England fans.

Surely the manager and the captain allowing themselves to be consumed in the narrative is more harmful than a right wing dick jockey on a light entertainment station? I wouldn't think they've allowed themselves to be consumed by the narrative Sheikhy but rather our lily livered FA has cajoled them into becoming a part of it. Rather than holding our hands up and meekly accepting the directive from UEFA, why aren't we standing up to them and asking them some pretty pertinent questions? Some of the media have proven once again what a scummy set of cunts they are. Andy Burnham bandwaggon jumping prick too. How dare 1000's of innocent England fans get beaten up by neo nazi scum. Those with influence should be doing all they can to protect those at risk not slur & attempt to castigate those that have done nothing more than try and have a good time. Andy Burnham didn't say anything bad about the English fans caught up in the episode with the Russians. He labelled the behaviour of the fans who had been fighting with Police for 3 days "embarrassing" but that's an entirely different set of events. You'd do well to at least attempt to not to confuse the 2 situations as they're completely separate matters.

Thanks Gary, the pertinent questions I was thinking of (and I've posted elsewhere) were:
1. Will UEFA make reference to what is the specific (and that's the important bit) reason why England are being threatened with expulsion from the tournament? As far as I'm aware England haven't actually been charged with anything, so why are England being threatened with a punishment?
2. UEFA have previously stated that they don't have any powers of jurisdiction over events that take place away from the match day stadia and as only the Russians have been charged with events that took place inside the stadium, why are they now seeking to exercise powers over events that have taken place elsewhere?
3. If UEFA are now going to exercise powers of jurisdiction over events that take place away from the match day stadia, then why aren't France themselves being threatened with expulsion from the competition. There are numerous examples (corroborated by the French police) of local French ultras attacking supporters from other nations in Lille, Nice and Marseille amongst other cities?

The World Cup in Russia is a massive mistake.
As for the lack of arrests of Russians, this beggars belief.
There is so much footage and still shots of these animals. Many of them are clearly identifiable causing carnage at more than one location. Its impossible not to identify many of them.
The French police made a complete balls up of their tactics at France 98, and here we are again.
The German police did an excellent job in 2006.

Paul. you're spot on with your questions. The problem which I hope that doesn't arise is that the England fans out there will not 'automatically' be the scapegoats for the trouble. It does beggar belief that no Russian 'fan' that can be clearly identified has been locked up yet... The World Cup should be taken off the Russians anyway, but if they are disqualified, as I think will happen mainly because these so called fans are nothing more than paramilitaries dressed up as football fans, then it should be re-voted and a new venue sought.
