The video rental thread got me thinking about some of the old Ninja movies from the early 80s
Were you a fan of them or Bruce's Lee/Li, Jacky Chan, Sonny Chiba etc??
Are you a closet Segal fan? or Cynthia Rothrock? Or Chuck Norris?
One of the best scenes from what I thought was one of the better Ninja movies. cheesy but fun
A master at work
More of a straight action film but easily my fav Chuck Norris

Chow Yun Fat in Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon.

not technically a Martial Arts movie but Oldboy (the original) has got some superb fight scenes in it to be fair

Love the opening titles of Game Of Death, great montage and one of John Barry's best themes - very Bondish

Generally some shit movie with some good fight scenes , this is an exception to the rule Nice one Harry!
Ive not seen that colour version of that scene, I must check my DVD if its on there?? Im sure I read the black & white was a concession to get it passed uncut through the censors?
I agree, the whole film is amazing, the music and all of it really. Proper 10/10 stuff
Somehow I didn't find Vol 2 anywhere near as satisfying although its still a decent film.

This was a fav from the early 80s, the fact it was on that Video Nasties list just added to its reputation

Ive never seen it, Im aware of the big twist etc. I don't like cruelty to animals and that Octopus eating thing kind of put me off it, especially when theyre the same intelligence as a cat or dog roughly. It just seemed unnecessary.
Has anyone seen the remake?

I prefer the old skool myself but 'Ip Man' is one of the best martial art films of the last decade or two. I was never really a fan of Bruce Lee, my favourites are the 'Three Brothers' - Yuen Biao, Jackie Chan and my personal favourite 'Fatty' Sammo Hung. They took it to the next level in the early eighties.

David Carradine in Kung Fu. Waste of time waiting for something to kick off, (so to speak).
Monkey. Just too fucking surreal.
But Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon was the business.

AWOL BLOODSPORT BEST OF THE BEST HARD TO KILL MARKED FOR DEATH NIKO OUT FOR JUSTICE to name afew!! AWOL is great; that fight at the end is top class, even though it does that old trick of multiple shots of the same punch/kick
It says a lot though for Van Damme & Segal these days. I do some vol work at a local charity shop & they had about 40 Segal/Van Damme DVDs come in, even at 50p each we cant shift the fuckers!!

One of my favs.. Chuck Norris in The Octagon
Good film this, the full film is on Youtube
I think I tend to go for the action film mixed with martial arts over the oriental films that are pure martial arts. Never liked Jacky Chan films due to the comedy element, apart from the excellent & very violent The Protector

If any channel were to show the film as a late night re run I'd be getting the popcorn in.

I really want to still praise Monkey but I actually caught it on UK Gold or something once and its utter shite!!!
Things like Space 1999, Blakes 7, Children Of the Stones still hold up - this sadly doesn't
This was more adult, fights are quite impressive
