Didn't miss many games though did he? His main problem last year was a thrombosis in his arm which ended his season in April. Looks like he wasn't in favour with the Dortmund manager.

"I have been a footballer for 10 years and last season was the first where I got little playing time. I needed some time to accept my new situation," Subotic told Ruhr Nachrichten.
"We had a phenomenal season and I understand the coach cannot keep everyone happy. But I did not become a footballer to get paid for warming the bench. I want to play. I am a fighter.
"I really appreciate the club, the team and the fans. But we will definitely sit down to discuss my future. I will have to wait and see what the club want and whether that matches my expectations. You have to be open if that's not the case.

Fortunately we have an elite squad of back experts that specialise in defenders. We should schedule him in for his August Op now so that he will be ship shape and Bristol fashion by the time the 17/18 season kicks off.

Means he's shit then doesn't it? That's what it implies, especially with the exclamation mark. I can't profess to have heard of tons of footballers outside of the league that we're in but i know who this fella is, there was a point where he was regarded as one the best centre halves in Europe. I've seen him play in the Europa League & Champions League for Dortmund and also World Cup qualifiers with Serbia. You don't have to be an aficionado of world football to recognise his name. I doubt many West Ham fans had heard of Payet or Leicester fans of Kante & Mahrez. Those guys turned out alright and they were lesser known than Subotic by some distance.

Can't we save slagging him off for when he actually signs. We're wasting valuable bile that could be put to much better use.

Come off it Pugs. He might have a problem given his comparative lack of playing time and injuries last season, but when fit I can't imagine many centre backs less like Wollscheid in style. Someone earlier up the thread called him a warrior - and based on the few times I remember seeing him play, that is the word I would use to describe him. A fully fit Shawcross and Subotic would be a fantastic pairing. If he wants to join after a rigorous medical I'd love to have him. Possibly a season or half season loan would suit - the danger being that he plays a blinder and then gets snapped up by a bigger club.
