I'd pay £30m for Benteke in this insane market.
A young proven PL performer who scores goals

He can also play on his own. Berahino can't.

up the fud - Damn good job you have nothing to do with our clubs transfer activity
the fellas got a serious, serious ,attitude problem - way beyond anything we've had to contend with before
the guys simply 'not on the pitch' half the time, if you actually watch him closely
I would not give £30 quid for him - let alone £30million - thats just suicidal - bonkers - completely daft
and Berahino's a dodgy option but - far better than this:- 'bone idle zombie like lummock'
and to the poster above -its true -he often can play up front alone
in some other teams, fucking reserves I very much hope

I do think they're buying him on his Villa first season form not on his Liverpool form. 30m is a huge gamble. I think Berahino is a better footballer and would be a far better signing wherever he ends up.

this century ?
I spose this is the classic thread about a player of whom we have dramatiaclly different opinions
To pay such a fee given out stature -puts us a great risk
whereas, incremental improvement is what we are actually doing
weve got to be patient and not pander to the stupid numbers clubs like Liverpool and Palace are touting and paying
for me
We defnitely need another striker to keep Diouf pushed hard (I happen to think, Miame Diouf picked up front regularly in the number nine role will score
plenty of goals next season)
And maybe we take an early decision on Joselu (keep / lose?)
but not top priority
my priority shopping list is therefore thus:-
top of the list
1)better backup goalkeeper than what we got (a 40 year old as number 2 ?) with Haugaard out on season long loan to the championship
2) Two young, hungry (very hungry ) and pacey fullbacks from the championship to chase our 'elder statesmen'
(the games all about fullbacks it seems these-days and if we want to finish higher we need bettter / faster)
3) Another young, 'brave as a lion Centre' half, to really compete with the central pairing we have and, replace those we currently have who simply ,
aren't good enough or, fast enough
4) Joe Allan
5) Another striker
so a £30 million striker right now, would be my 5th priority

The 2-3 seasons before last. Maybe we should judge Arnie exclusively on his Inter Milan form?

He scored 9 in 29 last season for Liverpool which surprised me. Considering a few of those games would have been from the bench 1 in 3 is a good record!

Just to elaborate on that point. Look at the state of them without him. He hasn't fit into Liverpool's style of football which is fair enough. Hes exactly the type we need to lead the line. I'd give Berahino a wide berth. Needless to say Ukyestony i'm just as glad that you aren't involved in our transfer policy.

he goes then - along with Given
as I said transfer priority number one (another premier league keeper at the club -who can immediatley step up)
not £30m for a bloke for whom, half the time - plays like he doesnt even know what day it is

Arnie - Shaquiri - Moha
and 'up the fud' - we can agree violently
something said earlier
'the markets insane'
we're not -hopefully

By most accounts Moha is a long way from being ready Tone. We need at least one more winger - two if Arnie goes.

yep -maybe upon reflection - missed off my shopping list
cant be too greedy - love to find another 'Ethers' in our lower leagues
Im still hoping very, very much though - the Swiss / Austrian combo will provide our width
hence no wingers on my shopping list
got to sort the goalie situation first and foremost (we were cruelly exposed last time out)
tho and, find some more quicker reliable defenders hence my priorities
and Diouf - 15 -20 goals next season ? why not ??

Butland got a freak injury. Our wingers were inconsistent (Shaq far more than Arnie) and we lacked plan B. Townsend/Ibe/Redmond/Zaha/Moses would/still are massive priorities for me with Benteke as our top striking target. We can't expect the market to calm down.

Hmmmm £30M
Good in the air but terrible first touch to feet.
Not sure we have rarely played high crosses into the box under Hughes and have not utilized Crouch for a long time.
He is a younger fitter Crouch.
Would we play to his strengths?
I think the price tag is too high given his most recent form.

Benteke is like a lesser Drogba and 2 steps up from Kenwyne. He'd be a fantastic focal point and his feet aren't that bad either.

He's only worth signing if we play to his strengths, if we do in todays climate £30 m is a snip imo. I wouldn't judge by his most recent form, he was bought by a manager who hadn't got a clue how to use him. Ask the resident Villa fans on here, he's lethal when used right. If our lads can't cross a ball it's time to pack in, Shaqiri can cross aswell as Johnson ( who I think would work well for us as right sided forward). I'm hoping Sparky buys him with the intention of playing to his strengths, goals will follow

Goals per season (all competitions) since coming to England:
23 11 15 10
That's a pretty good record considering he was playing in a dreadful team for at least three of those seasons.
