Anybody else have the hint of a feeling that Shaq was saving himself a little bit these last few months with the euros in mind??!!
Can't say I blame him massively!

He's a fantastic player!! We're extremely privileged to have him playing for us. Well i saw him have 2 good games for us last season. Should i feel extremely priviledged for those 2 games, or is it ok to expect better from a record signing?

If he was saving himself, he should be thoroughly ashamed of himself. I expect every player, picking up such huge pay packets, to give 100% every time they pull on the club shirt. His performances last season, apart from the two games Prudhoe mentions, were seriously poor. He needs to buck his ideas up at club level, never mind international games. Stoke pay his wages, not f'ing Switzerland.

We're blessed to have such a player and I'm baffled as to why anyone would think otherwise, stick him out wide and play a non existent forward in front of him, OR defensive CM's not intent on going forward OR we could easily play the inept SJW in his position next season, short memories some of us.
This time 12 months ago and if you told me he'd come to Stoke I'd laugh in your face.

Pocket rocket. Just want to see his talent more often than what we're getting at the moment. A lot of muscle to pull. Give the gym a rest for a while.

We all want him to do well for us but we can't ignore the fact that he was generally disappointing last season.
My view is that he can't deal with the pace and lack of space in the Prem.
Continental and International football is another thing. Much slower, much less intensive closing down - suit him a treat.

I am expecting a lot more next season.

There's several ways of looking at this. This is one way....
Not all sportsmen are created equal. Some can put in 100% every day with consistently good results. Others can thrill one day and disappoint the next. Call it flawed genius. Just like Alex Higgins who won two world snooker titles but was average the rest of the time.
Shaqiri (and Arnie) fall into the latter category. Yes, they are prima donnas. Yes, they can be arrogant, selfish and lazy. Yes, they want to play on their own terms. But when they do perform they perform in such spectacular fashion it makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up.
Shaqiri's incredible goal at Everton was one of the finest goals I have ever seen. Doesn't this outweigh his moments of indifference and average form at other times? After all, he's capable of it again at any time. And if we found ourselves in the FA Cup final again I would want him in the squad because a talent such as his could bring home the trophy.

I knew this thread would annoy me so I don't know why I opened it. Some of our supporters are just thick.
Of course he didn't set the world on fire every game like we'd app hoped but he contributed more than enough all things considered. We have one of Europe's (the world's?) most promising players within our ranks and some goons want to get rid of him because he didn't score 8 goals a game. Some of you deserve to have Danny fucking Pugh plodding up and down the wings.
Was he great last season? Of course not. Did he still help us finish in 9th place despite not being on his A game? Yes he did.
People bang on about how much we paid for him and what his wages are. 12 million in today's market is just an absolute bargain. We paid 8 million for Palacios for crying out loud.
I would say give him time but it's pointless when there are so many doom mongers wanting to moan about anything and everything all the time.

Pretty much sums it up, all the usual candidates comparing him to Walters, a player that has peaked and has been playing in the league since 2010, don't get me wrong i think Walters has been great for us but talent wise we haven't even scratched the surface with Shaqiri yet So many people moan straight away and they fail to realise that buying players like Shaqiri is a long term plan, we paid £12m for potential and we saw plenty enough to justify the money spent, i watched the Swiss/Belgium game and he tore them a new one on many occasions, he even left Hazard on his arse once, he looked like a cocky little Hamster Hughes has left many people on here looking like idiots, Bojan and Arnie were both written off before they were given a real chance, Shaqiri will be no different

I, like a few on here, believe Shaq will get better next season. Considering the vitriol that Arnie got on here, in his early days, I would have to posit that Shaq, in comparison, has done more as the morons haven't slated him as much as they did Arnie. It is amazing that those same said morons are now the ones calling for Arnie to stay whilst lamenting an obvious talent in Shaq.
