Is this the same Indridi Sigurdsson who apparently was" not good enough for Stoke City" when he watched him in the summer?. Presumably this was before he realised that Broomes was "not good enough for Newcastle Town"?. BOSKAMP RUNS RULE OVER NEW LEFT-BACK Next Story | Previous Story | Back to list Be the first reader to comment on this story BY MARTIN SPINKS 10:41 - 12 December 2005 Stoke City could be about to buy Icelandic again after checking out Racing Genk left-back Indridi Sigurdsson over the weekend. Sigurdsson, who is no relation to Stoke's Hannes, was one of a clutch of players watched by manager Johan Boskamp during a scouting trip to Belgium and Holland over the past couple of days. He watched the Icelander at the start of the season, but decided against a move before the end-of-August transfer deadline. But a left-back remains his top priority and he has decided to give the Icelandic international a second look ahead of the January transfer window. Boskamp's other targets over the weekend included what he is calling "my second Bangoura" as he seeks a cluster of new signings for the second half of the season. He has also told the likes of Toddi Gudjonsson and Anthony Pulis they can leave, while John Halls (transfer listed) and Bruce Dyer (on loan at Millwall) are other possible departures at the turn of the year. Boskamp was accompanied on his scouting mission by chief scout Kevin Reeves and veteran defender Gerry Taggart. Taggart's inclusion on the manager's brains trust represents a further step towards his possible full-time promotion to the management team. Boskamp and his colleagues left for the lowlands of Europe on Saturday morning after seeing Stoke rise to sixth in the table on the back of Friday's thrilling 3-2 win against Leicester. Paul Gallagher and Mama Sidibe left the contest evenly poised until Sammy Bangoura netted for a sixth game running to make it eight goals in 10 Stoke appearances. But Stoke's scoring sensation looks set to miss Saturday's trip to Luton after stacking up his fifth booking for over celebrating his winner.
