As some of you know our game with the Irons has been put on the telly, Sky obviously have paid attention and are showing our final game at the Brit before we see the new name of the Bet365.

Has it ? Can't see it anywhere and if it has, it's not a very good draw for the TV viewers. Surly the last thing to play for now is the champions League and that would involve both Manchester clubs. I also don't think Sky give a jot about us playing our last game at only to be, a renamed stadium. Neither would I.

Sky sports 1 and 2 are showing the Manchester matches.

All true - see the club website.
It would be hilarious to have a "Goodbye to the Britannia" presence to counter the nauseating nonsense Sky presented from Upton Pa.., sorry, the Boleyn Ground on Tuesday! If only the irony would transmit - no doubt people would wrongly think we were being serious!

If only the irony would transmit - no doubt people would wrongly think we were being serious! True. After all the hype the other night perhaps we could stage a wailing and gnashing of teeth competition. We could also wreck their bus and ask Mr Coates if we could buy our seats as everlasting memories of the now defunct Brittania Stadium. Then again, who gives a toss?

So are we all waiting for their coaches to turn up and pelting them?
Who's doing the concert after the game has finished?

You raise a good point regarding old seats. Obviously in the Seddon Stand there are loads of white seats that spell out "Britannia" so these will have to come out, and a new seat configuration will be needed if they are gonna spell out "Bet 365" in a similar fashion, it will look totally wank if they just replace, or indeed swap seats around, as the colours have weathered a bit now and it will look like a patchwork quilt if they replace some and not others, you will effectively have 4 different colours, Old White, Old Red, New White and New Red...

The ones that are left at the final whistle (won't be many, granted) should all break down in floods of tears for the cameras.

what a stupid name for a football stadium Bet365 . It's will always be the Brit to me . I don't know why they need to change it because the Brittania doesn't exist anymore so it's isn't breaking anything laws. Just like man City Leicester arsenal we have to name the stadium after the sponsors. I also think it is stupid to name it after a betting shop because all the young fans can't have the sponsors on their shirts. They should have just name it the Brit because everyone calls it that an then I think most people would be happy

At least this one is worth a lot more money to us.

It's only worth a lot on money to us because Peter Coates daughter runs it an they have kept it I the family If you aren't familiar with fpp rules then we have to raise our sponsorship income to remain competitive. We can't just rely on TV money, and the Coates family/bet 365 can't just pump money in for no reason.

They should have let the fans name it. I would have preferred The Stanley Matthews Stadium or The New Vic.

Oh what deep joy. First home game next season we can drool over the prospect of going down to the bet365 for the match .... Marvellous, bloody marvellous!
You never know, as clubs sometimes are acquired by different companies, we could even look forward, enviously, to the prospect of the LIDL or Tampax Arena!

As well as the brand for a building society, Britannia is the name of the country we live in. Best of the new grounds names in the country disappearing. Like many others (probably most) it will remain the Brit / Britannia.

I'm curious how Sky will handle it, it proper ruins the rhythm. I know they have to say bet365 as it's now the name of the stadium. It's just the odd one out.
"Now over at the Emirates" "On to the Etihad" "At Old Trafford" "And now we go live to the bet365"

They only started calling Upton Park, The Boleyn in the lead up to their final game there to be fair. I didn't mean they won't be able to say it, I just meant it ruins the rhythm. It'll sound odd.

The Stanley Matthews or The New Vic definitely spot on mate Glad somebody cares what the fans think You've obviously completely missed the point here. It's a sponsorship deal (as it was with the Brit in the first place!!) which means we can legitimately use that sponsorship money towards the running of the club. As has been said, the coates family can't simply just gift SCFC any of their money so this way they can use their business to continue to help to fund us. It's not 1985 anymore where you can just pile millions in of the owners own bank account hence the etihad, the emirates etc. It's sod all to do with the club not caring what the fans think, it's simply that those fans obviously don't know how ffp works or what it means. They could name it The New vic to keep you happy...great! What that then means is that the fans get a great name for a stadium for a club that no longer has anywhere near the funds it once had.

As i said in my post above yours mate, nothing to do with the club not caring about fans simply a case of those fans not knowing what ffp is! New vic would be a great name yes but then it's bye bye to the coates family money!

The Coates family put all the money in to help us get where we are, the club needs more and more money to help keep on the road we're on, so if you want to chuck in about 30m then yes you can call it the knobhead stadium.
