Rafa in the champs would be like the head waiter at QuoVadis (one of my fav restaurants in London also their Tapas outlets in Covent Garden are sublime)....taking a job at McDonald's. Surely he will say no. His fate should be sealed tonight

I suppose it depends who else offers him a job.
Would he rather the dole than another year at Newcastle?

Hope he goes, I think he's a good manager and I'd like to see the Mags crash and burn as long as Ashley is anywhere near the club

I suppose it depends who else offers him a job. Would he rather the dole than another year at Newcastle? This , I read he has a change of heart as "No Job Offers Yet" or at least no job offers from supposed "Big" clubs. so if the moneys good he might as well stay put.

Well5m will tempt him. But its not just about how shit they are on the field. Off the field the club is a disaster. Would Rafa really want to handle all the bollox that's comes with the job...and live in the shit hole that is the NE?

If he's such a good manager, how come he's never been linked with the still in question manager's job at Old Trafford????

He always seems like a bumbling buffoon to me, it would scare me shitless were he ever to end up at Stoke.
I think he will stay at Newcastle, no bigger club will hire him or match his wages.
I must admit I have never really got the whole Rafa thing.

I think it was all the success at Valencia and managing Liverpool to become champions of Europe, that's the Rafa 'thing'

I'd imagine his links with Liverpool just make it ridiculous to even speculate. I must say, he's done a good job at Newcastle, just too little too late on the Newcastle board's behalf. I can't see them doing anything under Mike Ashley, the guys is obviously a very savvy business man, but he knows diddly squat about football. Thanks god for Peter Coates!!

But I don't agree with your comments about living and working in the North East. Newcastle is a smashing city. However, Benitez probably isn't the city dwelling type (he didn't live IN the City when he managed Liverpool) and within an hour or so of Newcastle there are some great places to live such as Hexham to the west, Alnwick or Morpeth to the north or Durham to the south. Or if he did want to live during the week in the city suburbs then Jesmond is a pretty classy place. Whatever reservations Benitez has about staying at Newcastle, finding decent places to live won't be one of them.

Huge mistake for me if he stays..... £5M's obviously very tempting, but let's face it, it's hardly like he's skint, and I'm sure he'd be on a massive paid contract wherever he went.... For me he's a decent manager, and managing in the championship at places like Burton, Rotherham and Brentford ain't gonna do his reputation much good at all!!!

I do wonder if Sir Peter will put in a little call with Rafa to check what his plans are.
He wont like to undermine Hughes, but Im sure he would discreetly be interested to know.

I don't get the Rafa love in. 2 wins in 10 at Newcastle. I don't think he is that good. I can't see him staying at Newcastle. It's a basket case of a club.

He's not the right manager to get them out of the championship anyway. So with the relegation release clause best for all if he moves on

Cant see him staying to be honest. Would see himself as a top league Manager and if he didn't get Castle promoted next year he becomes the forgotten man
