Has anyone heard any news re fitness for the Sunderland game? Clearly Ibrahim is out but what of the others?
Would this be close.
Shaq - MH said prior to the Man C game he could be back for Sunderland.
Arni - Looked like a tweak. Taken off as a precaution due to the scoreline. 50/50.
Johnson - A couple of weeks away.
Walters - Out for the season.
Wilson - Still out for a while.
Given - Out for Sunderland.
Erik - Back from suspension.
It would be a real bonus for either Arni or Shaq to be fit for Saturday.

Walters isn't out for the season. May get a couple of games.
Given's injury was reported to be minor and may be back this weekend.
No idea re Johnson and Wilson.

Mmmm? Not sure I want injured players back. Pieters was poor before suspension, Ryan can't find any decent form and seems a hopeless pairing with Wolly. I've poor more faith with Bardsley to get stuck in at the moment. I thought Imbula actually looked better without Affelay !? Maybe it's time to forget points and league position and just experiment for next season?

Agree with you March.I'd like us to sign a brick outhouse defensive midfielder who can really play, along the lines of Essien in his pomp,to partner Whelan, but then you're struggling to accommodate Bojan I suppose?

We've well and truly blown any chance of improvement on last season, so I'd be tempted to give run outs to some of the youngsters/hopes for next season.
Haugaard (the sooner you get back on a bike after falling off the better) Wolly & Muni (please Ryan get fit and be back to your awesome best for next year) Johnson Pieters Imbula & Shenton?? (Glen needs a rest) Shaq, Boj, Moha (just play for the fun of it!) Arnie (or Diouf/Joselu if MA not available) (I think Arnie is ideally suited to be a Fuller type player - When you get the ball, your only objective is to put it in the net!)

Sunderland will play a hi tempo game as they're bloody desperate. We need to be strong. Not sure how fit Walters would be so can't see him starting. Fingers crossed Arnie and Shaq are available. Play Diouf up top and Bojan behind. Pieters back will at least make us a little more solid after Muni's forays out of defence.

I'd move Geoff to centre back and rest Ryan, who is clearly not fit, and put Imbula alongside Glenn and make sure he understands the French for "putting a shift in". A rested Bojan must come back in behind Diouf, our lone pacey option up front. With Arnie and Shaq hopefully fit, we at least should have plenty of skill in the team if Hughes can only manage to summon up a modicum of effort from the lads. Walters can come on and run around a lot if we need to chase the game or hold on to a lead.

Hughes and Ryan need to have a chat and make a tough decision if need be as Ryan looks way off. We need a win and as I'm attending the last home game v the Hammers I'd like us to show glimpses of our early season form sooner rather than later.

Injuries, of course, have played a huge part, but in the last few weeks we have seen the worst type of wholly unacceptable modern footballer behaviour on full display - millionaires who simply cannot be arsed to break sweat. Arnie stood out as a beacon of industry and effort, and no little skill, on Saturday, but probably only because he wants a big money summer move!!

Glen might need a rest but a pairing of Imbula and Shenton would surely weaken us defensively as neither is a defensive midfielder. Totally unfair to Shenton, who is an attacking midfielder (and not on good form ATM) to pair him with another attacking midfielder and expect them to protect the back 4. We may have a defensive/holding midfield option in the U21s but it surely isn't Shenton - bayernoatcake or someone else who watches the U21s may have a suggestion.

Jackie's also attending what would have been the last home game at Upton Park the week before, courtesy of tickets from Mark Noble (it's a long story). I was more worried about Arnie going off on Saturday because he was fed up as opposed to being injured. He may well have felt a pull but with the Euros he's not going to take any chances but I do expect to lose him. Maybe you'll get your wish and N'tep will join And seeing as Lakeland is here, John will get his wish granted when Yarmolenko joins in a blaze of glory

Oh yeah, I have another reason for hoping we help to send the Mackems down, a chance to fulfil my M'Vila obsession by snapping him up in the summer! In my search for an apostrophe XI, I hope we re-sign N'Zonzi, and don't touch N'Zogbia. "M'bula" would need to change his name, mind, if he wanted to make the cut! If the Toon go down, M'bemba can join, but not all is lost if Norwich go down as we could pick up M'bokani as a back up striker.

He is also known for his passing ability and "superb vision". M'Vila has earned critical acclaim for his playing style, which has led to coaches and players drawing comparisons to fellow French internationals Patrick Vieira and Claude Makélélé. Despite playing as a defensive midfielder, M'Vila acts as the team's deep-lying play-maker and is often instrumental in building-up attacks from the back." I'm not alone....... Imagine him and an Imbula who has got used to the English game in the engine room? Works for me!

Both our best CMs by a mile, however M'Vila has gone off the boil a bit whilst Kirchoff is always unlikely to last 90 mins. Overall I prefer Kirchoff, he's a much better passer of the ball and is so composed in possession. £750,000 for him is an absolute gem of a find. Mid 20s too! M'Vila is unlikely to sign regardless as his wages are apparently huge - will likely have to take a pay cut to play in the prem unless one of the CL teams come in for him. We do have first refusal on him though if we stay up...

That needs updating, his passing is okay and it's true his engine is brilliant and his tackling is alright. Superb vision is something I haven't seen for a few months from him though.

I don't want Adam anywhere near the starting 11. He's just not fit enough especially against a hungry team. For next season we need young and fit midfield dynamic players who can get around the pitch. I have a sneaky feeling he will play Muniesa alongside a another but God knows who. I still think he considers shawcross and Muni as his best pairing to implement swift passing from back. Joselu last week I think showed at the moment he isn't the answer up top. I feel Walters is the best equipped as Kone & Kaboul are one rough pairing

I've thought about the idea of being without a keeper many times and I'm not so sure it's such a bad idea after all. Everytime the opponents manage only 0,1 or max 2 shots ON goal - it would be nice to have an extra forward for 90 mins. It could be the right thing in an handful games per season. Fruitcake?
