Didn't the Normans bring back the idea of St George as a patron, during the 1st crusade, cause Cuthbert wasn't warrior like enough

Hang on, hang on, hang on. Are you saying that St George was a Syrian who claimed asylum in this country just because he was a fucking saint? This kind of story makes me sick. It's typical of the way we've thrown our borders open to any old rubbish and diluted our proud cultural heritage with your St Georges, your royal familys and such. There's no way back for this country....

Of Greek descent born in Syria it's believed . It's appropriate that an immigrant can be taken to the heart of the English psyche and revered as its primary spiritual manifestation. It shows compassion and tolerance which is what being English is all about isn't it?

If he was that brave, he should have stayed in the middle east where the action was and focused on making Syria a better place for Syrians instead of coming over here and stealing our native slaying jobs. If he'd done that, I daresay Syria wouldn't be in the mess it's in today

It shows compassion and tolerance which is what being English is all about isn't it? Well he was not an immigrant , he did not reside in England as far as I'm aware ? England is one of many countries that adopted George as a patron saint , mostly countries that had taken part in the early crusades against Islam ...I'm not sure compassion and tolerance was ever part of the issue of him being adopted as our patron saint .
