Not sure she is as enamored with the whole football caper as the boys. Hopefully the big man will have left strict instructions in his will!!!

True but the company is just snowballing into a global monster if the new value is believed. Peter will make sure things are secure after him and I'm sure Denise will continue her fathers dream and legacy.

Denise got the hump after her old man got chased into the boardroom by a group of irate Stoke fans with murder on their minds in 1998. Bloody women, they can’t just forgive and forget can they.

As a sports betting company it makes complete sense for them to have a major interest in a team playing in the most popular league in the world.
This move shows their long term commitment IMO, there's no way they'd let the club struggle with their branding all over it.

If 'self-sufficiency' is a genuine goal then there should be little problem in the future as a football club and a gambling company tend to slot in nicely together and I'm sure whoever is pulling the strings will see SCFC as a viable part of the 365 empire. The only cloud I can see on a very distant horizon is government bowing to pressure groups and introducing quite draconian restrictions on on-line gambling. No doubt the Coates' family will be ahead of the game as per normal and will have diversified or got out in advance but where that would leave the commitment to the club I don't know. (Would be nice if we could win something soon to remember these good times by.)

Even if they went public and therefore lost control of the company, the money the family would make would be so immense we'd still be rolling in it. Gambling isn't the most savoury industry to be in (that would be pies but Bet 365 is more ethical than most in terms of tax and Corporate Social Responsibility, and it's also bringing lots of jobs to the area, paid for by gamblers all over the world.

Sometimes good does triumph over evil!

And, during our time in the Prem, the family fortune has increased by £3 billion. How easy it is to forget that they were only worth a pitiful £400 million in our Championship days.

All PM made from nothing Well done them It was all made from the old man selling the Provincial betting shops to Coral for a great price. A great success story still but that's what set them up. Peter Coates did have a few little betting shops under the name Provincial but Bet365's Genesis was the result of his daughter borrowing some money (£500) off her father to develop an idea she had for on-line gambling. I believe she initially ran it from a small caravan. It was from these humble beginnings that Bet365 has evolved into the empire it is. Peter might still have been selling pies if it wasn't for his children.
