This week has shown that outside of the area quite a lot didn't know it even was a sponsor. I don't see why the bet 365 Britannia Stadium would be an issue at all tbh. I don't see the problem with the new name either but there's enough evidence to suggest it wouldn't have mattered to people taken in by sponsorship. The problem being , in the eyes of the sponsor it would still be known as the Brit or brittania stadium . Regardless of the 365 add on . Thereby diminishing the new sponsors branding True mate

This. They want the stadium to become casually known as 'the bet365' in the same way as it's become known as 'the Brit' over the years. If they leave the word 'Britannia' in there then there's less chance of that happening. Plus as you say it reduces the impact of the 'bet365' part on TV and radio if you have a long winded official name. Exactly But the media will still say bet365, they will have to. Leaving it in would diminish it little and just sound better.

I wonder how many folk will be moaning if their seat changes colour when the Britannia seating is changed to bet365 in the east stand?
Presumably this is happening? Apologies if this has already been covered, I've not views every page of the thread.

I'm just looking at it from the sponsors point of view . I hate change . I would dearly love to watch the games from my old spot on the Stoke end , before they ruined it with that bloody stand

The Stanley Matthews stadium was perfect for me Why? The first ever in history And only Stoke player to win the golden ball, is enough for me to gave him the name of the stadium. LEGEND.

Scholes stuff today about the trademark being the key factor in not retaining the name was just embarrassing and needless nonsense from a discredited snake oil salesman. The thing is no one really cares. It’s a bit modern football shite and I'd like to have kept it but why would Bet365 want to retain a name that would potentially dilute the sponsorship, particularly overseas. Everyone gets it There’s no need to lie and for the Sentinel to accommodate him at all.

Name change doesn't bother me. What bothers me is the pathetic excuse for an expansion. 2 years on and 1800 more capacity. Its bollocks.

I'm no CE fan but it doesn't take a genius to work out that his CV from his time at Stoke is going to smell of the most fragerent roses whatever your own prejudices, misconceptions and agendas are. On to the point in hand. Who is really going to give a second thought to the stadium name once next season comes around. I suspect more will be interested in the new players that will no doubt arrive in the summer (aided by the sponsorship income) and the anguish of opposition fans as we once again trump supposedly bigger clubs in the transfer market.

Putting your fear and mistrust of anything that wears a suit aside for a moment the simple point is that it is simply foolish to suggest that Scholes will have anything but an extremely enhanced CV from his time at Stoke. It's almost as daft as coming out every transfer window since the suit wearing transfer team replaced Parso and Kempo as the recruitment brains foaming about it being a shambles. Let your downtrodden cloth cap ways go

I remember when this sort of stuff used to exercise you into comment but since 2013 your propensity to swallow any old corporate jizz seems to have risen. What happened?

Whether you like teh name or not, one positive for those decrying the shabby, threadbare aspect of the Brit will be happy. Bet365 are a huge global organisation an dthere is no way that they will allow their brand to be associated with anything than a premium facility. I suspect that it will be more than just Higginbotham Hill getting a make over in the next 18 months.

What a fucking wank, shit, boring unimaginative cunt of a name. I entirely concur........on a deeper level though, gambling causes as much misery in this city as drugs and alcohol, I work with the damaged families................those children and who never receive christmas or birthday presents, those families whose christmas is a food parcel, those who are up to the neck in debt, encouraging people to gamble is a disgusting way to make a living, or to fund a football club. The Coates family are no better than the clubs who thought it OK to be sponsored by loan companies.....no morals at all

I question the need to increase capacity what with all these whining bitches moaning about how shit the manager and team are. As these fucktards won't be turning up, surely we should be looking at reducing the capacity? Yes you are right..........estimated capacity for the non thinking, brainwashed pie munchers? about 12,000 to 14,000 I'd say
