From a personal point of view I don't care what the ground is called. With a memory like mine, I just stick to "Going to the match on Saturday?" to avoid having to remember any names. From the club view, I suspect that bet365 have paid more for the naming rights than we could have got elsewhere and therefore every little helps towards financial fairplay etc. As far as filling in the corner, I am glad to see that the majority view appears positive. Having a 30,000 seater stadium opens up opportunities if any tournaments are ever held in the UK and therefore give the club the opportunity to have some of the future re-development carried out with external financial support.

Yes, I meant the way it faces. Why. The old ground had a Boothen End (nearest to Boothen) and a Stoke End (nearest to the centre of Stoke) Why would we change the naming policy of the Boothen to mean exactly the opposite at the current stadium? Just mean facing north. It will change the atmosphere significantly I reckon.

Does it matter. It could be called the Coates arena it we all should still be happy. The transformation I have seen in my lifetime is massively unexpected. I enjoyed going to watch my time from the late 80s onwards. Regardsless of what League we were in. I'll always enjoy the Vic more, my memories started there. Moving to the brit was a sign of the times. As is now, we have moved into the big league, and things Like this happen. Let's just get behind the family that helped us get here and are showing the support to the club they are.
Go on stoke

Good news. Even better if it was 2 corners being filled in. Particularly as I sit up the soon to be only remaining exposed corner!

Taken from article - "The stadium... will undergo a complete rebrand over the course of this summer"
I wonder if this means we may finally take the 50 foot mural of Lord Faye down and replace it with someone a bit more suitable?

Just mean facing north. It will change the atmosphere significantly I reckon. Whether a stand faces north or south makes a difference if/when we kick off at or near mid day - which happens once or twice a season at most. When games kick off at 3 pm or later and most games are played in Spring, Autumn and Winter the atmosphere would not be any different in a north facing stand to a south facing one.

Any chance we might move the away fans into the new corner instead of giving them the prime, influential seats, right next to the tunnel? I honestly think I'd rather the opposition fans there. why mate?

Hi guys, Leicester fan here. Hope you don't mind me posting, just thought I'd share some of my thoughts with you. Great forum site by the way! So, I read earlier about your stadium name change and one of the corners being filled with seating at the ground. To my understanding some of your fans aren't happy with the new name. Fair enough. Leicester's stadium as you all know was called the Walkers up until 2011, where it was renamed the King Power. I think to a degree this is a similar sort of situation to us. The Britannia, Bet365, Walkers, King Power are all sponsored names and we (Leicester) also had to adjust to the new name of our home. The way I personally view sponsored stadium name changes, is that it's all part of modern english football and modern stadiums. What I am also trying to get across to you all is, is that there are many other clubs who also have sponsored stadiums, so don't worry too much as you're not alone. Take the Premier League - Leicester, Man City, Arsenal, Bournemouth. They are all sponsored football grounds. A lot of our fans just call our ground Filbert Way sometimes, which is after the stadium's address. But, over the years our supporters have just become accustomed to the 'King Power' name, and I feel this could be the same with Stoke - It could be a period of adjustment perhaps. On the positive aspect of you changing your name, having a big company such as Bet365 having the naming rights, to a degree it shows the ambition of SCFC. Again, with the corner being filled with seats, it shows ambition to move forward and to contiune to develop as a bigger football club. Despite your stadium name change, it does not adversely affect my judgement of Stoke City FC. Not sure why but I like Stoke City. You are still a great club, with some really passionate fans who follow your team both home and away really well. You do get behind your team from what I've seen. You have quality players and a very decent manager. I know your home atmosphere is renowned for being good as well. Actually to tell you the truth, on my judgement Stoke fans at our place have been the best and loudest in the two years since we've been in the BPL. When you lot sang the song 'Delilah' in the 2014-15 season in particular, I heard that loud and clear and I was at the other side of the King Power to where the away fans are positioned. All in all you have a fantastic set up at Stoke. I can see in years to come that you will be pushing for European spots consistently. It seems as though your recruitment is top notch (Bojan, Arnautovic, Shaqiri examples) and I just feel in general you have the right foundations to move forward as a football club in the future. You've done excellently to establish yourself as a solid PL team. All the best for the rest of the season. I wish your club all the best in the future too. Leicester and Stoke - two proper clubs who should be in the Premier League - and thankfully we both are! Please can we have Robert back? Â

Forgive me if I'm being stupid, but according to Wiki, the current capacity is 27,902.
So if we add 1800 seats, it still wouldn't be more than 30,000, even though it says in the articles that our new capacity will be in excess of 30,000.

One corner to be filled in?
At least there's still plenty of opportunity for 'filling in the corners' threads until they're all done.

Surely the Coates family can be forgiven for naming the stadium after the company that keeps us living the dream?
Also they are assuming we will be in the premier league the year after next as well? Hughes has got a lot of work on this summer.....

.............God almighty it gets worse, goodbye Britannia hello Bet365 Stadium........just shows what the club ethos is based around, what was that Abba song? money, money, money, Perhaps the club could have done something that would take the fans with them like "The New Victoria Ground/Stadium" but no, its all about Bet 365........I stopped buying merchandise when they started plastering it with Bet 365 tosh, never did agree with gambling myself. I know they make a lot of money on the back of it but there is such a thing as balance. Like I said before, the Mrs and I are out after this season, and this is just another unpalatable ingredient in an already sour cocktail, make the Bet 365 Stadium a fortress next season boys and girls......maybe the Coates family will let you bet on the minute droves of fans start making for the exit......lol See you later.

I think it's 28,300 It is 28,300 less segregation for league games. For Cup games if the away side has the whole of the south stand, (as Man U and Everton have done in the past) then the crowd could reach 28,300 and with the extra 1,800 in the new corner it could reach 30,100. They could cut the number of seats lost to segregation in league games by expanding the south stand concourse. It is the cramped size and lack of flexibility of the concourse which causes the problem. The concourse is at the legal minimum size it can be. Bigger concourse = more flexibility = fewer seats lost to segregation.

Hughes has got a lot of work on this summer..... I don't think any forgiveness is needed. We played at the Vic for more than a hundred years and lost that to The Brit. The Brit as a Building Society doesn't exist. The naming of Bet 365 is superb because its a further massive investment by The Family...Bring it on

I think it's a brilliant move. Can't wait to hear Lineker say, "And now to the Bet 365 Arena where Stoke..." Job done. The BBC might as well throw their non-advertising stance out with a few of their crap pundits. OS.

Great to get a new corner at last .all we need to do now is sort out the concourse by knocking down a wall and moveing the bar out out and put in a cueing system and also sort out and make the toilets bigger

I assume this is so Bet365 can channel more money into the team without running foul of the fair play rules.
