I cant quite understand why this guy isn't playing every week .
I see him as our best option up front . I don't think he's getting a fair crack of the whip .
Are there issues we don't know about ... ?
More mobile than Walters and Crouchy ...and got a good eye for goal .
I can't quite understand what's going on .

I like Joselu. But I also like Diouf. You could make the same observation about both that they should have had more starts.

MB said that he had been extremely ill on Friday and Saturday and wasn't fit enough to start

I think he has the ability but really has to work much harder to cut it over here , maybe he will get it next season but unless you can score 20 goals a season you have to be prepared to work and chase lost causes and he doesn't

Unless he is played more often then he's not likely to score the 20 goals or so you refer to . Peter Crouchs work ethic isn't that brilliant on account of his age . I don't have a problem with a lazy striker if he can score 20 odd goals , because that's exactly what we need right now .

A very over-rated player who we paid way the odds for was the Spanish view I was given.
I haven't seen anything to really argue against that view, lazy at letting defenders come out with ball also.
Don't rate him at all and in my view needs shipping out as soon as,i like Diouf but hes been poor also.

I'm not sure Mark Hughes rates any of his strikers.

I'm not sure Mark Hughes rates any of his strikers. The way he keeps chopping and changing them I tend to agree. I think Diouf is definitely on his way..

One concerning stat re Joselu though is he never seems to last long at any club.

I don't think MH likes his goal celebration.
Let's be honest, it is a bit shit.

Maybe I'm the odd one out but I've been fairly impressed with what he has to offer and think it's a bit of a travesty that he hasn't been utilised as often as he might have been.
Far more effective than Crouch is now & I'm surprised we haven't tried him as part of a front two with Diouf up against the teams we have struggled against (i.e the weaker teams at home).
I like him.

Joselu was fantastic against Swansea, especially in the fist 60/70 minutes. He won every header and held the ball up well, I was amazed when I saw the starting XI for Liverpool and he wasn't in it.

I think Hughes might give Joselu an extended run to the end of the season just to see what his options are at the end of the season.
I would definitely keep him , but sadly part company with Crouch and Walters . They have been good servants but all good things must come to an end and their wages would be better spent on younger , fitter legs . I'm not advocating spending £25 million on a new striker , but simply someone who is better than we already have .
I' d keep Dioud because again he would provide a different option up front should we need it ....a reserve striker perhaps ...

Strikers who have scored 20 premier league goals 2015/16 Harry Kane Jamie Vardy Thats it. Lukaku and Aguero might make it by the end of the season face it we are very unlikely to ever have a 20 goal a season striker in the premiership.

Averaged a goal every 180 minutes until recently (don't know the stat now), far better than Crouch or Diouf. Play him and he'll score more, simple.

I'm not sure Mark Hughes rates any of his strikers. Which is a worry considering he bought two of them and chased one of them like a dog for 18 months!

I hate saying this but he's living proof that being pretty quick and good with your right foot , left foot and head isn't enough at this level .
He seems to think chasing defenders down , forcing them into mistakes and going in where it hurts to get on the end of crosses , corners and free kicks is something best left to the Harry kane's And the Jamie Vardy's of this league .
It's not right thinking and it's a great shame because he has a lot of talent .

Diouf has the pace but not a good enough footballing brain.
Joselu has the finishing but lacks pace (Crouch the same).
Walters has the work ethic but not the finishing.
*Combined we'd have a 80 goals a season striker....
*This post may be subject to hyperbole

We are just stacked with strikers who are seen much of a muchness, no one stands out. While I think MH want Bojan to claim the spot he has failed to do so Walters and Crouch may have guaranteed play time in their contracts and with Diouf in a bad place Joselu gets shoe horned into an attack not really designed for his abilities.
I would sell Diouf, Crouch and Walters play Bojan at home and Joselu away all sounds simple but I doubt it really is.
He doesn't have the sex appeal of Bojan nor the work rate of Walters but his finishing seems far more consistent than either of them.

It's just too soon to judge from what we've seen of him. He's shown plenty of promise and scored some very well taken goals but there are times when he just doesn't seem up for it.
Every chance he'll do very well for us.

I think he will do well for us.
As with all players coming from different leagues, I'll give him until at least halfway through next season before I can really comment. i think a good summer with a full pre-season will do him and others (like Shaqiri) a lot of good.

If we start next season with the same striker choices it will be very disappointing. We need someone in who can take that chance that turns a draw into a win and we don't have it. It will mean at least one striker on his way. Crouch I guess is only going to become less effective and Diouf doesn't have the composure and instinctiveness to be the answer. I think Joselu is a talented footballer and worth his place in the squad if not as first choice

He has been short of an extended run in the team, but seems the best option long term of a pretty average bunch. He needs to start every game left to see if he can develop into the player his talent suggests he could. He must work harder to be truly effective in the English game as a lone striker.
