Results seem to have gone our way yesterday. Both Liverpool & West Ham also dropped points. Hopefully Southampton will also do the same against Leicester. If we win at Anfield next week, we're right back in the thick of it. Europa League seems like a bit of a long shot now but a top 7 finish is still very much in the cards.

That's a very reasoned argument. Like yourself, I reckon European footy is out of the offing, but we play to the end of the season no matter what.

Winning yesterday would have been ideal with the way results went

We had to improve our situation yesterday with a relatively benign home fixture and we didn't.
With Liverpool, Spurs and Man City up next we are basically fucked Europa wise.

Maybe - it's worth pointing out though that we have taken points off 2/3 of that trio and won at Anfield in January, so it's not a given. Those games seem to suit how we play better.

Unfortunately the result yesterday seems significant for the current situation of the team. Just before reaching a higher level and being a real competitor to the teams fighting for CL or EL, we fail. That´s what big teams are made of....they win games like yesterday....we don´t

With the way this season has been going I wouldn't be surprised with 7/9 points from the next 3 games. Then 2/3 from last 3 "winnable" games

We'll do well to get 9th again.

Too many points dropped against mediocre opposition at home to really still believe Europe is a possibility. A paradox really, still looking for our strongest finish in the league, yet we've disappointed and let ourselves down at crucial times.

Anything can still happen if we go and get results against Liverpool and West Ham, think of where we could be if we hadn't have slipped up against Palace, Watford and West Brom!

six home defeats and we have had Europa league ambitions. We are poor at home compared to previous seasons. Europa league is gone.

I fancy us winning at Liverpool or Man City more than I fancied us winning yesterday.
I still think we'll finish 9th though and want to see more u21 players on the bench.

Written off.
Sorry, after yesterday's second half we don't deserve to be in Europe.
The laziness from the 11 men on the pitch was disgraceful.

The last two home games have been a bit depressing as we underperformed against Soton and chucked away 2 pts yesterday. Crucial games to win if we really believed we could grab a Europa spot. If the rest of the season follows a similar pattern you could see us winning at least one of the next 3 tough games if not 2. The likelihood is that we will miss out by a handful of points. It really has been a bizarre season in so many ways and one where a lack of consistency has cost us a Wembley final and a top 7 finish.

As plenty like to write players off we might as well write the season off.
We've got some of the shittest fans in England who don't deserve anything but 3rd division dross.

Do you think we'll get the 9 points we'll need for Europe from Spurs, West Ham and Sunderland at home? I dont think we're anywhere near good enough at our place to do that. It's not being a shit supporter, it's just being honest with yourself.

Soemthing is missing at home though, I dont think we'll get close to 7th myself. At least 5 points shy I reckon. Maybe next season.

Some decent games left with a bit to play for...we could finish Spurs title hopes and hand it to Leicester and go some way to relegating Sunderland and even screw up west Ham's Champ league ambitions. I will admit that quite often I rush to write off the season and mentally head for the golf course but I will be over from US for the L'pool and Spurs games. I don't get that end of season feeling just yet.

9th would be an excellent achievement with the background of the injury situation, quite a few new players settling in and our relatively poor home form. Qualifying for Europe? Nah isn't going to happen and frankly that's probably for the best. Our best route is the cups and we gave that a good go in one and went out of the other with a whimper. It's been a 'nearly but not quite' sort of season.

I'm normally a "glass half full" man myself, but after yesterday's performance and the age of many players in our squad I wonder whether wishing for European football next season is a mistake.
If we did get into Europe, the effect on our league form could be disastrous.
Surely it is better for MH to continue his evolution and strengthen the squad further with younger players and push on for cup success. We need young replacements for Whelan, winger, and FBs, as a minimum, possibly a CB and of course find that elusive 15+ goals a season striker.
If we do better than 9th or record points we will have done well with all the injuries and lack of a top striker, luckily Arni has stood in this season but I think he is planning to move on like Bego and N'Zonzi.

Come off it.......Jesus .....lost six at home and it will proberbly be more before the end of the season....and after yesterday's collapse do you really think so.....we may not even win another game ,but with our injuries this season ninth again would be an achievement ......just get rid of the dead wood for next season.
